Arrival Story:
Firefly came to officially live with my partner and I yesterday! We sourced her from The Hull Animal Welfare Trust in South Cave after seeing her brindle tortie sister from a distance on their website! I'd been specifically looking for a brindle Tortie and after 6 weeks of searching, it seemed I would have to wait for ever! But Pixie (brindle) was waiting for me secretly with her Sister Firefly and after playing with them in their pen, I knew I had to try and give them a home! My mum just thought I should go for Firefly at first because she was the biggest and therefore mum thought healthiest and she was very pretty with her marbled ginger flames across her face/body! But I wanted 2 kitty's and to keep the sisters together and loved Pixie anyway! It was a very stressful week for me that followed, as I couldn't reserve them until i'd had a successful home check and i was just so worried someone else would take them! But now they're here with us its so great! We refer to them as the kitts (kids) and so far Firefly has been quite reserved and has taken the followed her sister's dominance and confidence, which is strange as she is bigger! Firefly was sick on the journey home and so I think that has made her a little weary of us but I know she'll come round as Pixie has come on in leaps and bounds just today (now sitting on my lap and falling to sleep after I lured her with a toy!)! Firefly's still following Pixie and imatating her but her play is getting more confident now and she like to eat from her bowl whereas Pixie will eat from my hand!

Bio:
Firefly was very close to her mum and imitated her a lot (like she now is her sister) when I saw them together in the pen at the shelter. She is quite a bit bigger than her sis and is starting to get the edge in their fights with sheer body mass (though pixie is still nimble and quick!).

7th June Still no mews on missing sister Pix! :(

Its 7 days now and still no Pixie. Last Thursday 3rd June a man in a shop told mum that he'd seen her on a wall Wednesday 2nd June at 9am and was sure after seeing the picture that it was her and not me but as I've been prancing about the place in my usual curious fashion I think he's confused me with Pixie, not that Pix has white fur like me so that's weird. Other people have thought I was Pix too. Check our pictures out and you decide? Otherwise mum has had some pretty low times when she's just despaired over where her baby Pix has gone these last few days.

Today after waiting all weekend, the council waste management department was finally open so she made a call to check if any cats had been collected after road accidents. There had been no cats picked up in my area at all in the last week and apparently our council is one of the very few who also scan for microchips on kitties that didn't make it. I was really glad in as much of a way you can be about that. The lady said that they call you if your cat is scanned and give you the option of viewing your baby and taking it away or not. That is really thoughtful I think. So mum got hope again that Pix may still be out there. She has put up even more posters and phoned local Primary schools in the area to see if she can bring posters in so the kid's will see. They all said yes and so did the local community church so that's all good progress she tells me. There are a lot of places she could be if she has not just been stolen or taken in. Lots of allotments and shed's and garages. Far too many to have any hope of checking but mum and dad have checked those down our street anyway. Mum's been reading all the happy ending stories today about kitties that turn up 8 and even 14 years later because they were chipped. That also helped her get on with her work as she has to carry on bringing in the money even though she is very distracted and upset. Tonight mum and dad are going out when it gets dark to check the parkland behind houses at the end of the street. They are tired but they need to keep trying. Mum is afraid Pix could be hiding scared in some bushes and getting skinnier but I caught a blue tit the same day Pix went missing (not good I know, I regret it now and have a bell on my collar as punishment) but I think if I can catch some food then Pix can, she learnt from the best is what I say! I just hope it isn't Karma that I killed the bird and now Pix has been taken in return?

Well I'm miaowing off for now but tears and memories of Pix rolling on her back with her legs flopped apart with no care in the world are in our minds. Chirping when mum talks to her and chattering at the insects. Opening the door with her nose and jumping up on the sofa looking for the nook in mum or dad's arm to get comfy in and then looking up at us with her lpve bug eyes as if to say 'I love you so much'! Bless my Pix and keep her safe in her journey home.

June 5th My sister has been missing for 5 days now! I'm- actually fairly ok but mum and dad are distraught....

My sister has gone! Missing for 5 days now! I'm so upset and my feelings are all mixed up. Mum and Dad have tried everything now...
Pixie was last seen playing with me on the landing of our home at 3am. Dad didn't see her at 6.30am when he got up and we thought it strange when she still hadn't been seen at 8.30pm. Mum and Dad started house calling at that point and have now 5 days on, still not found her and have fully postered our neighbourhood and done house to house enquiries and have neighbours on the look out.

They have checked local outbuildings, shed’s where she may be trapped to the best of their ability and contacted vets, RSPCA, Microchipping registry, council. Mum's advertised online and in supermarkets, anywhere that would take a poster.

Pixie has been on Catster since 7 weeks and is so loving, popular and beautiful. We am absolutely distraught not knowing where she is and whether she is alive or scared somewhere or if someone has stolen her because she is pretty and had no collar. I really feel like she's gone and I can't bear her loss. She loved me so much and me her!

Update after visit to vets today...

So I got put in that car thing AGAIN! and took somewhere fairly strange called 'the vets?'... and I was handling it quite well until this big hairy barking, whining thing came in with some human! I wasn't very happy about that and started shaking a little but couldn't help but be curious at the same time! When I went in to see the vet human he immediately dragged me out of my cage and shoved a stick thing up my bottom, which I didn't like one bit! Well would you? He said it was to take my temperature, what with all my sneezes of late! He said I didn't have a temperature but that having been in a animal welfare centre, I may be a little run down and could have caught a cold. He gave my human mum some antibiotics to give me for 5 days by dropper! (Not looking forward to that!) She says she is gonna count my sneezes and see if I get worse before she starts giving me them cos the vet said she could give me a little while to see if it clears up. She didn't want to take any risks with me though so got the antibiotics anyway to save a possible 2nd visit and also cos she loves me! Puurrrr! Anyway, when we got home I was very happy to see we had not been taken away from our new home cos we weren't wanted and so me and the sis got straight on with our usual antics of serious wrestling and climbing at high speed up and down the sofa! (good job its a hard wearing cloth type one, my human mum says!). Human mum counted my sneezes tonight and when they where and couldn't believe how she was able to do that for me yet had never been able to keep a food diary for healthy eating for herself! So my total sneezes for between 8.10pm and 10.35pm London time have been 23! Is that alot? I did 11 in 12 minutes when I escaped out the front room and ran upstairs with my sis to investigate the rest of my house! Maybe I get too excitable! Hmmmmm... Sleep now! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
