Arrival Story:
We were visiting a local shelter. Upon entering the communal cat room. Kepler's' soon-to-be daddy heard a Siamese-like mew from a high shelf. It was Kepler yelling, "Get me out of here." His new daddy was instantly enamored by this cute kitty's plea and his beautiful cream-colored tabby markings. We continued looking at kitties in the communal cat room and other parts of the shelter, but we left with Kepler. Upon adopting him, we discovered that he had only been at the shelter for a few days, and it was his first day in the communal cat room. He had been surrendered by his previous owner who had named him Steve. We renamed him Johann Steve Kepler, but he usually is called Stevie Kepler or just Kepler. Unfortunately for Daddy, Kepler's meow to get his attention turned out to be just a way to get closer to Mommy. He follows his mommy around chatting most of the time. He may not look very Siamese, but Kepler sounds like one when he talks. His mommy thinks he's saying, "Love just me! Worship me! I'm the most handsome kitty! Your world revolves around me!" The man Johannes Kepler may have wrote about the laws of planetary motion around the sun, the cat Johann Kepler demands that the world revolves around him!

My previous owner was a woman that gave me up when she became pregnant with one of those loud small humans. It's easy to tell I was spoilt (rightly so) and perplexed by my predicament of being surrendered to a shelter. However, I love my new mommy!!! The rest of the family is nice, minus my new sister Caly - my hate for her is the only thing equal to my obsession for Mommy.

A Day in the Life of Kepler

An Red Head Turns White

Mom and Dad have been painting the stairway to the basement. I've pretty much stayed away because Daddy's been involved in the project and I don't care for men to much (I would like to be the only guy in this pride!). However, to my delight, Daddy went away yesterday and Mommy painted the trim. I had so much fun bothering her that she exclaimed at one point, "Stevie Kepler, you're driving me nuts!" Then, she decided to clean up in order go to breakfast with Grandma. This gave me the opportunity to rub my flank on the freshly painted white trim with no one to chase me off. The little human saw me first and startled me with her yell of ,"Stevie's got paint on him!" I ran downstairs to find my Mommy already wetting a towel in the laundry tub. Too late, I realized it was for me as she skillfully grabbed me and scrubbed me down with that wet thing. The paint came off easily, but the wetness lasted awhile. Mom seemed none too happy about the incident. Geez, Mom, I just wanted to see what it would be like to be a white kitty like Snowy.

Over a Year

At the beginning of the month, I had my one year anniversary of my adoption by my family. It's been difficult adjusting to my new life at times. Those of you who know me well know that my relationship with Caly, this little patched tabby in our house, is one of animosity and hatred. My family has worked with us over the year but has decided to keep us in separate zones of the house unless supervised. I don't like it as I feel I should be master of all people and places, however, it's better than that shelter my first human mommy dropped me off at. Here I know my mommy adores me and my daddy says he likes me but I don't like men in general so I leave him alone most of the time. I love to follow my mommy around talking to her. I have so much to say, and I say it so emphatically. I tell my mommy how much I love her and she tells me how she is in love with a little red headed man - that's me! One year here - that's half of my life. I look forward to spending the rest of my life here with my mommy. We love each other so!

Did you know that my full name is Johann Steve Kepler? Nobody calls me Johann, but I'll answer to Stevie, Kepler, and Mommy's favorite, Stevie Kepler. I love when she sings my name :)
