I will lend to you for a while a kitten, God said.
For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he’s dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, ‘till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you and, should his stay be brief
You’ll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this kitten to learn.
I’ve looked the whole world over in search of teachers true.
And from the folk that crowds life’s land I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labour vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again?
I fancied that I heard them say ‘Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done’
For all the joys this kitten brings the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay.
But should you call him back much sooner than we planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we’ve managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of him whom we loved, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul for us to love all his life.

I've been tagged by my friend Dylan-Forever Loved! ! I have to list seven things about myself and then tag seven of my friends.
1. I loved my fish toy with the bell.
2. Here at the Bridge, I love to chase squirrels. They love it and I can't hurt them.
3. I was born at my Mommy's house 17 years ago.
4. I hated the vacuum cleaner.
5. I meowed a 'bow wow' meow when I wanted attention.
6. I was called 'Puff Cat.'
7. I was always the last to eat when I had brothers and sisters. They were more aggressive than me so I had my own plate of food.
I'm tagging these seven friends:

Mr D
Mystikal

I have been seeing so many new kitty and doggy angels coming to the bridge lately. I saw a great black and white kitty come here the other day named Ginger. She was surprised she was at the bridge without her humans. She meowed for them for a while but grew used to the idea of the bridge as we all hugged and comforted her in her grief at having to leave her family.
We let her know that she is safe, young, healthy and happy again as she has not been in a long time. Here there is no illness, death, unhappiness or terror. Each animal only longs for the humans she had to leave behind on earth. She longs to see them again and knows she will.
In the meantime when each new angel arrives we have the biggest party with catnip, tuna, cat treats, dog treats, steaks and whatever else our heart desired on earth. We then chase butterflies and each other.
We never tire but we sleep in the vast green meadows because we can. We look at the rainbow with awe and wonder and look longingly at the bridge for our humans left behind but never forgotten.
I have been here almost three years now and know I will wait a while but we will all be together someday again.
Purrs to all who have lost a beloved kitty or puppy.

My Mommy talked to her friend tonight. She was told that Frankie, her friends, cat, had deflated her air mattress. She noticed it gradually getting lower on air every day. She had to air it up more often and thought Frankie might have poked it.
One day she came home from work and it was totally deflated. She knew then that Frankie was at fault. He just looked at her and was so proud of what he did. A day or two later he was on his back with belly out and all four feet up then scratched her couch right in front of her!
He was a brat. Us female cats are perfect and never get in trouble. Perhaps our Mommy differs on that. We have shredded Daddy's chair. Our parents love us and know that is how cats are. Our love and affection outweighs our bad habits.
Needless to say my Mommy laughed for quite a while about the deflated air mattress!

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don’t be angry with me for long and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainments, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don’t understand your words, I do understand your voice.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, good or bad, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you yell at me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old or become sick. No matter how you feel, I’ll be there for you.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can’t bear to watch. Don’t make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you.
