I'm official!

I was brought into the shelter where Mommy works and I was scared, very scared.The man who dropped me off told the attendant that I was from a litter and they didn't want 'this one'. I spent the first day and a half shaking in the corner of the intake kennel. Mommy saw me about 30 mins after I arrived. She noticed right away I had nystagmus (shaking of the eyes) and got a doctor to see me immediately. The doc suggested I be watched for 24 hours. I was examined, tested, etc. When it continued, the chief of staff asked Mommy to take me home for at least 2 weeks and observe and record. He said it would give them a better idea of how to go about things. Of course, if there was anything pressing or urgent, I would be brought back in right away. SO, I went home and stayed in a room by myself. The family spent alot of time watching me and writing things down. Slowly, the pendullar movement of my eyes decreased and my pupils didn't stay dilated. I was brought back in again and examined. The drs suspected a possible poisoning (hopefully by accident). Sometimes people put dog flea medicine on kitties and that can cause soem serious damage, or even send a kitten to heaven. There is some damage, though, since whenever I get scared or REALLY uncomfortable, the eyes swinging becomes noticeable again. BUT, my brother Dash has nystagmus and he is perfect! The drs told Mommy the causes and then Mommy researched it as well.I could have been born with it or it could have been caused by head trauma or the flea medicine (or something else). The family says it doesn't matter because we're in it for the long haul with each other! I officially became the baby of the family on February 13, 2008! :)
