Arrival Story:
When my 13-year-old son was just three years old, I took him to a flea market in Mobile, Alabama, hoping to find a kitty that I could buy. When I started down the first aisle of the flea market a woman jumped out of nowhere with a cat carrier and said "do you want a kitty". I said, "you won't believe this, but this is why we are here, to get a kitty". The woman explained to me that she had found the kitty on the side of the road near her house. Apparently, someone had dumped her on the side of the road and this nice lady was trying to find her a good home. When I first took Buttons out of the carrier, she was completely wild. It was as though no human had ever made "nice" contact with her. She was scared to death. The nice lady was kind enough to allow me to borrow her cat carrier to take Buttons home and then return it to her the next day. Buttons has alway been a very special little princess.
Bio:
Buttons loved to go outdoors when I lived in Alabama. She was definitely a hunter. One night my next-door neighbors' cat, Fancy, and Buttons went exploring on the land that backed up to our house. Buttons and Fancy were missing for several days. Both my neighbor and myself scoured the neighborhood looking for them. About two days later I was planting flowers outside in my yard and I heard Buttons at the back privacy fence. I knew her "meow". She had been attacked by a pack of dogs (said the vet) and shaken like a rag doll. In the condition she was in, she could not climb the fence, so I dug a hole and pulled her under and took her to the vet. Amazingly, she was okay except for her muscles which had been pierced by the dog's teeth. Sadly, Fancy wasn't so lucky. Nowadays Buttons stays totally inside. She seems to have no desire to go exploring in the great outdoors.

At first when my mom and dad brought this little peep-squeak home, I was sooooo mad!! My mom even went to pet me and I slapped her hand. I have never done that before. Don't know what came over me, except I was sooo mad!! Now I'm getting kind of used to Raja. I sure don't want anyone to construe that I like him or anything. I still have to maintain a certain amount of dignity here. But if my mom and dad aren't looking, I will sneak him a kiss from time to time. Raja is a bengal cat and he is very pushy. He wants to be my little brother just IMMEDIATELY!! I have to let him know that I was here first and I am the BOSS, not him. So far it's working. When I hiss, Raja lays down in front of me and becomes very submissive. Got to maintain that bluff!! I know one day I'll really love him. In fact, I probably already do. (Did I say that? Please don't tell him). He's really not all bad, just a little crazy. After all, he's only 6-1/2 mos. old at this time, so I guess he's supposed to be a little wild!! I love Catster and all of my friends. I have never had this many friends before and it's really neat.
