Arrival Story:
I adopted Jade from an animal shelter. She was 5 weeks old and very thin. Along with her I adopted another kitten who we call Makenzie. She was 6 weeks old. Jade, I believe was taken from her mother much too soon. I couldn't leave her there.

Bio:
I had Jade for approx. 1 week when she woke up from a nap and couldn't move. Actually she was almost unresponsive. I called the vet's office, but was told I would have to take her somewhere else because the vet had already left. I called a lot of different vet offices and no one would see her. I told them that she was limp and very lathargic. They still said no. I might add that it was close to closing time. I tried one more vet and they told me to go ahead and bring her. When I got there they took her from me and went to work on her. Finally the vet came into the room and told me that her blood glucose had dropped to 22. They gave her an IV and she was doing better. He sent me home with home with meds and said if I have anymore problems to bring her back. She slept with me that night and the next morning it happened again. To make a long story short, blood work was done and it was found that her white blood count was 54000. Her RBC was 23. Other blood work wasn't great either. They kept her for the day but wanted to transfer her to the after hours clinic. It was Sat. I agreed. They did blood work again and within a few hours her RBC had dropped to 14%. Another emergency. They did a blood transfusion and put her on some more meds. She did great. On Monday I got to bring her home. She continued to do good. By Wed. she seemed to be back to her old self. I took her for check up on Thursday. She got a good report. He did not want to repeat blood work for another 2 weeks to give her time reouperate even more. Then this past Thursday 9-13-07, she quit eating and started with loose stools with blood in them. She also was not acting right. I took her to the vet that morning and she had a 104.7 temp. She was becoming lathargic again. They gave her some fluids and check her stool which was neg. They put her on more antibiotics. It is Saturday and she is doing much better. She is even playing with her sister. This little girl is a fighter and I am willing to do what ever I can to make sure she stays with us. She goes back to the vet on Thursday for a recheck and more blood work.
