Well it appears I have something called Feline CRF, which means my kidneys are failing. My human was told this isn't noticed by symptoms until the kidneys have lost 70% of their function. At first my humans thought I was not going to beat this disease, as the blood test results weren't good, but I'm fighting back. I've not made almost 16 years to throw in the kitty towel yet! I don't like the treatment, bad enough I have to get this special diet, which at first I didn't like at all, plus 3 oral medications, but worst of all I have to have I.V. fluids every day. I don't like that I.V. needle being stuck into me, and I'm so tiny, just over 6 pounds, and they give me 100ml of fluid every day. WOW, that equal to a 200 pound man drinking a half a gallon of water all at once, and in less than 2 minutes! Try that tough guy, bet this little 6 pounder can out do you taking in fluids. I look kind of funny after I get it, I have a little pouch for a while till the fluid absorbs into my body. Don't you go gettin' all teary eyed on me now, my human has done enough of that! You just watch, 16 is pretty good, but I'm going to make 20---WATCH ME!! So, my kitty advise to all you kitties out there, tell you human that along with your yearly check up and shots, ask for a mini blood profile, it's not very expensive, and this will tell your Vet. a lot about your health, plus anything that might be starting to happen to you will be caught early. My buddy "Q" had diabetes, and I'm sure it could have been caught a lot earlier too. So give you kitties the gift of good health, one little draw of blood once a year, and don't wait till your baby is a senior cat, start today! Marsha...
