Arrival Story: Both Smokey(the gray Tabby) and her brother, The Bandit (the orange Tabby,) where adopted from the San Martin Animal Shelter, along with their adoptive mother Lucy.
Bio: Smokey, originally named Pebbles by the shelter, was a shy little under weight kitten. She sat quitely in the back of the cage she shared with her brother, Hank, whom we later named The Bandit. Bandit on the other hand was quite outspoken. From the minute we walked in the room, he made it known that he had chosen us to be his parents! He even reached out his little paw from behind the bars of his kitty prision, as if to tap us and say, hey I'm right here, take me. Of course he expressed this vocally to...
Our intent that fateful day at the shelter was to adopt one cat, however their was just no way we could seperate the two. We knew in our hearts that if we adopted one, we had to adopt the other, and we have never regretted that choice.
Smokey still remains underweight and we are working with her on a regular basis, to fight both the respritory infection she got while at the shelter, and to help her gain weight. Other than her weight issue and having to give her and her brother medicine twice a day, Smokey is a deliteful little kitten. She is very playful and we just love her to death...With a little time, lots of love, and a little help, we know Smokey will grow up to be one of the best cats ever!
Bandit and I went to the vet again on Saturday. The vets says we are doing good. We got our second set of vaccinations...I wan't too happy with being poked, I dont like needles too much, but Bandit purred the whole time. He purred so much and so hard that the vet couldn't check his pulse. Well time for the bad news...the doc says I still have ear mites, so mommy has to keep us on medication awhile longer. When she first got us, the mites where really bad. There still not good, but getting better. The doc also thinks I might have hyperthoyridism, but could be certain. My pulse was so fast, but it could have been just because I was said. The doctor told my mommy to keep an eye on me and we'll take it from there...Now for the good news. The doc said I gain a whole pound!!! That made my mommy very happy, being as she was very worried about me being under weight...Well that all for now...
