Arrival Story: Mickey was the first cat that I had of my own. I picked him out of a litter of Persians back in 1991. I knew when I first held him he was a very special cat and we would spend much of our life together. He was so tiny and had the sweetest expression I had ever seen. Mickey would sleep on my pillow every night and put his paw in my hand and let me massage it. We had a very close bond. Then one day, another Persian came into the picture -- Minnie. Mickey was very curious and would follow her around the house. She didn't like him so much at first until she came in heat. Minnie later had three beautiful kittens. Mickey was so pleased to be a daddy and wanted to be around them constantly. He enjoyed playing with them and gave them baths along with Minnie. I kept one kitten, Mitzi, who became Mickey's best buddy. Later, Spot came along after I got married and they hit it off pretty well. Of course, they would occasionally fight over dominance and try to be the alpha male.

Bio: Mickey passed away June 15, 2006. It was a day I will never forget. I came home from work and found him lying on the floor. He showed no signs of being ill and had his senior checkup four months before. I was devastated finding his lifeless body back in my bedroom. It looked as if he just went to sleep. I had a necropsy performed because I just had to have answers. They could not pinpoint specifically what killed him, but found multiple health conditions. He had a tumor on his lung, chronic kidney disease, and a hemorrhage in his pancreas. I hope he did not suffer. My other kitties had mourned for a long time over his passing but having Obi has softened the pain for all of us. Mickey will always have a special place in our hearts.
