The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Dear Mommy

Please don't cry. I'll take good care of Jake while we wait for you. I think you knew in your heart that we couldn't be apart for too long. We're together now as we should be and I know that brings you peace even though your heart is broken. Let Jonah make you smile. That's why I sent him to you. Don't worry about us anymore. I came down from the Bridge to get Jake from you and now we're cuddling, wrestling and making mischief up here just as you remember. 8 Month Anniversary...

of missing your sweet angel face, Micah. Jake misses your cuddles and so do we. There isn't a day that passes that we don't think of you a multitude of times. We know you're watching over Jake from where you are and that is one of the reasons he's still with us. As much as you want him to be with YOU, you know we still need him here with us awhile longer...

Daily Diary Pick

Mommy had a bittersweet surprise today, the day before the 6 month anniversary of my flying to the Rainbow Bridge. I was honored by being one of Catster's Daily Diary Picks! Mommy and daddy have been thinking about me a lot lately (even more than usual) and miss me so much still. Sometimes mommy likes to imagine what life would be like if I were still around even though it makes her very sad. The weather is beginning to get warm again. Spring and summer were my favorite seasons because mommy and daddy would take me outside with them to enjoy the sun and fresh air. I want to tell them that I'm still with them in spirit if they just take a minute to feel my presence they might feel a soft tickle of fur or the whisper of a wet nose...

December 30th...

Micah I miss you everyday still. I can't believe it's been 2 months since you left us. It seems like forever. The pain isn't so close to the surface anymore but when I really think about you the pain is still just as deep. I know you're helping us to go on with our lives from where you are. Jonah was a wonderful gift to us. His playfulness reminds me of how you were in your youth, enthusiastic and innocent. I just found out today that you're bringing another surprise into our lives. In your special way you're trying to give me those things that you couldn't give me in life. Mommy always wanted more kitties but Micah thought that 2 was enough. You're personality was so big it commanded all of daddy's, mommy's and Jake's attention. When you left mommy and daddy had a big gaping hole left in their lives. Now you're planting little seeds in the hole to help us heal. You'll always be in our hearts Micah, we love you. ~Mommy

1st Birthday at the Bridge

Today is gonna be a tough day for mommy and daddy. It's my 9th birthday today. It's the birthday I did not quite make it to... mommy and daddy didn't know my real actual birthday since I was adopted but they picked Dec. 23rd as my special day.

Mommy had already started planning my big event before I passed with loads of seafood (my favorite food) and a kitty birthday cake. I'll be watching them from The Bridge and I'll probably stop by sometime during the day to chat with my brother Jake. He sees me all the time if I want him to. Mommy and daddy can't see me though so I make Jake do things to remind them I'm around the house. Don't be sad for me today - I'll be celebrating my 1st birthday at the Rainbow Bridge with all my new friends here! ~Micah Angel

I'm an Angel Now!

Mommy has been missing me a lot. The last few days have been especially tough on her. She likes to me picture me as a beautiful angel and that makes her feel happier sometimes. Krishna's Daddy on Catster gave me my lovely angel wings today. Mommy cried when she saw how beautiful I am now. Mommy I love you. I'll always be in your heart. ♥ ~Micah Angel

Sweet Micah ~ We Miss You

Today is one week to the day that your sweet soul flew away. We lit a candle for you my little lovebug and remembered you on your happiest of days. We miss you sweet Micah.

Micah Flies to the Rainbow Bridge

Micah passed away naturally at 6:45 AM today. He suffered a Thromboembolism on Tuesday night when we rushed him to the emergency hospital. It was diagnosed that he was in advanced stages of heart failure due to Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). He had been hanging in there, still fighting hard the three times we went to see him on Wednesday. He was trying to pull himself up as if to tell us "let's get out of here, I'm ready to go home." We were hoping he would pull through despite the incredible odds. At least enough to come home and live out his remaining days with us and Jake.

At 4:15 AM the hospital called. They said he might be crashing and that we could come down and see him if we wanted. We were able to go see him one last time for about 45 minutes. He knew who we were, was very happy to see us and peaceful when we left. His tail would always get really puffed up like a raccoon when he was super happy and excited and he did it for us one last time as we were petting him and saying his name. It was really amazing considering he lost movement of his tail and back legs and a definite sign to us that he was so happy and comforted to see us. I think he was waiting for us to come back again before he decided to go peacefully to sleep and slipped into unconsciousness after we left. The doctor thinks that as the clot began to break up, a piece of it went to his lungs and that started a chain reaction to his heart. We're so heartbroken. Sweet Angel we'll see you again at the Rainbow Bridge.
