Wow I am honored! Thanks Dogster! We haven't been on much because we are moving... AGAIN! But this time we are going home to Pittsburgh, PA! This should be the final big move! Dad is president of a company now. And Mom has been ultra busy with rescuing other doggies that don't have homes.
Mercy, the 10-month-old puppy who was doused with gasoline and set on fire, has died. Her little heart just gave out.
She was a gentle soul who showed remarkable strength and courage, she
inspired us all!
Mercy died Sunday evening about 9:30 p.m. at the veterinary clinic where she was being treated. Doctors said Mercy showed some
improvement Saturday, but her condition started to deteriorate Sunday
afternoon. She was given a plasma transfusion, but shortly afterward her
heart -- weakened by burns over 60% over her body, stopped beating.
The young pit-bull mix was rescued Friday, April 14, by a Dallas man who saw
her in the wooded area behind apartments in Far North Dallas. He took the
dog to Operation Kindness, where she was given immediate veterinary care. Mercy was transferred to the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center last Monday. She had surgery the following day to remove most of her burned ears and begin the painful debridement treatment. Doctors cautioned that, because of the severity and extent of her injuries -- which also included stab wounds and cuts -- her prognosis was guarded.
"All of us at Operation Kindness, as well as thousands of people who have been moved by her plight, are grieving for Mercy," said Jonnie England, executive director at Operation Kindness. "We were so hopeful that this
beautiful, gentle dog, who had suffered and endured unbearable pain, would
pull through in the end. It's more important than ever that the person who
brutalized her be caught and brought to justice--for Mercy's sake." She will
be privately cremated and her askes will be spread in Operation Kindness'
Memorial Garden so she will rest in peace forever.
Thanks to the outpouring of support for Mercy, her veterinary bills have
been covered by caring people who were touched by her plight.
Donations made For Mercy's Sake will be used to help Operation Kindness care for other
unwanted, abused and neglected animals like Mercy.
Daddy came home really late last night! He was in China. He got to see what happened to the house while he was gone. (If you don't know what happened, see Hailee's diary) We stayed up really late with Daddy and ate cookies! Then we went upstairs to the spare room to sleep and we all slept till 1:00! I WAS REALLY HUNGRY! I love Daddy being home. Mom told him all about everything that happened and me and Shae told him lots of stuff too!I am gotting tired of all the noisy in the house. So is Mom.
Let me tell you what Mom did to us yesterday :( She took us with her to the shelter so we wouldn't have to sit in this house with all the noisy all day. She took us to Doggy's Wonderland doggie day-care. It's the same building where she works. The smells were familiar cuz we smell it on her every day. Anyway, SHE LEFT US OUT THERE! There was lots of other dogs playing. But I wanted my Mama! Then, I saw her with other doggies on the other side of the fence. I was so upset! I had to bark the whole time to let her know how sad I was! Then I could hear her in the building. so I stood in front of the little window barking barking barking and clawing at the side of the building cuz I could hear her in there!!!! Then she finally came and got us and she said she was disappointed in me! Shae and me acted very traumatized. How do all those other doggies stand it over there??? Don't they miss their Mommies????
I don't like doggie day care :( I want to be with my Mama.
