Hey everyone. Mommy sent me a letter today! Here's what it said:

To my little princess,

I hope you are having a good time at the bridge. That you are back to being the spry little kitty you were when I first met you, oh so many years ago. I know that I've been very busy with your skin-brother since you have been gone, but don't think that I've forgotten about you. You are still my princess. The kitty I can turn to when all around me goes haywire. I know that you have been near these last few weeks, and for that I say thank you.

Can you believe that in a few months you would have been 18? wow - now don't go out and try to party too much when your birthday rolls around. I'll check in with your brothers, and you know they'll tattle on you my dear. Take good care of Xander. I let him come to you much too soon, and he needs you right now.

Love,

Mommy

It was so nice to get mail from meowmy! I hadn't even known the humans could send us stuff up here, but some of my furriends explained that it's a once a year special event. Well, I'm off to chaperone the brothers, I just wanted to share with everyone.

Thank you so much to Brandy's mom for my beautiful wings. Someone else had sent mommy wings back when I first passed away, and they were lovely too, but mommy just couldn't deal with it then. But now, she's been chatting with me up here at the bridge again, and she let me get some pretty wings so I can fly about with my friends.

Hi everyone,

Mommy hasn't been on the computer much lately since she and my new human brother came home from the hospital. But, she wanted to let you know that I have moved along to the rainbow bridge. I was just waiting for her to get a new Baby to take care of her, and now that she has one, I felt it was time for me to move along. I lived a wonderful 17 years, 12 of them with my mommy. She adopted me just hours before I was to be put to sleep, and gave me all of her love for the next 12 years. It was 12 years ago last week, in fact, that I moved in with her. But lately, I've been so tired. And now that I know there is a new little one around, I know that she'll eventually be ok. I'll keep an eye on her from the bridge, but I know that my little human brother will be what she needs to get past this.

Daddy and Grandpa buried me under the trees by the house, and made a little protected area above my grave. Mommy hasn't been able to go out there yet, but she will soon. And I'll be here by her forever more.

Bye to all my friends, and I'll chat with you from the rainbow bridge once mommy is dealing with a newborn a little bit better.

Baby

Yeah, my brother says mommy doesn't love him anymore. Uh huh - and when was MY last diary entry? They might call me "her royal highness", but they sure aren't showing the proper leve of respect! hrmph!

Life is going fairly well for me right now. Earlier this spring I got in a bit o'trouble. Apparently mommy wasn't so amused when I walked into the room she was in and promptly peed on the floor directly in front of her. (I had been right by the litterbox that had just been completely cleaned out and everything, but I just wanted to be in the room with her). So, I've been banned from my favorite room. Apparently when they decide they trust me again, I'll be allowed back in there, but until they are sure I won't pee in there, no dice.

So, I've been searching for a new favorite room. I was hanging out a lot in the office - those chairs are comfy! But, this week I finally realized that what mommy really wants is for me to start coming back downstairs more. She and daddy have been carrying me downstairs all the time, but I was always going right back up the stairs. Nope - I wasn't gonna go if they took me. But, this weekend, I finally started traipsing down the stairs all by myself.

See, I've been getting a bit lonely upstairs in the office. Normally mommy spends tons of time up there, which means my annoying brother also spends lots of time up there. So, I'm not all alone. But, lately, mommy's having problems going up and down the stairs, so she doesn't go to the computer nearly as often (her belly is just HUGE -- there is absolutely no lap left for me or Xander (but daddy promises she'll get her lap back pretty soon)). So, if I want to be with mommy or even Xander, I have to go downstairs.

Shhh, don't tell mommy, but I kinda like it down there. It's cooler down there and she lets me sleep on her bed - which is wayyy comfier than the one in my now-banned room upstairs.

Well, I must say that I never thought that I would be chosen as senior kitty of the week. I'm so honored and just downright stunned. There are so many other wonderful older kitties out there that I never imagined that I would be chosen. Thank you to all the kitties and doggies who said such nice things (and congrats to Autumn on being hte senior dog of the week this week!).

My life has changed a bit since my last post. My sweet younger brother Luke has passed away, and mommy and daddy (and especially Bo) have been very sad. Bo went through a really really rough time, and luckily mommy and daddy knew what to do to cheer him up - they got him new puppies to have as brothers. So, now I have 4 younger brothers (Xander, the annoying 3-year-old), Bo (the 8-month-old), and Othello and Falstaff (the 9 (almost 10) week old puppies). As much as I'm kinda anti puppies, I have to agree with mommy that Bo really really wasn't doing well. So we added the newbies, and he's much much happier.

Other than that, life is pretty good for me. I have a special food that I have to eat now, but I really like it, so that's good that mommy thinks she HAS to buy it for me. :) Thank you Dr Z for convincing her of that! I'm feeling better than I have in years, and have even been getting back into doing my aerobic exercises (up the stairs, down the stairs, up the stairs, down the stairs, up...) every night while Mommy sleeps. Daddy's been home a lot lately, and while he's not as good as mommy, he's more likely to bop Xander on the nose for harassing me, so I like having daddy around. Ok, time for my daily 6 hour nap. I'll chat again later.

So mommy and I haven't had much of a chance to get on the computer lately, and haven't been able to type much on catster. Mommy's been acting weird (daddy keeps talking about a bun and an oven???), and she's been sleeping a lot. However, I've been doing much better. Thanks to everyone for all the crossed paws and prayers and headbutts and ... Daddy's gonna take me back to the vet on Wednesday, just to make sure I'm all better, but I really think I'm back to 100%.

Today was not a good day. It started much like any other day. Then I heard my brother wailing downstairs. Heh heh - he's getting a bath. tee hee. good thing that I don't have to have baths! Then, daddy came upstairs to pet me, and to carry me downstairs to sit on the couch. Ok, this is good. No problems here.

But, he didn't go to the couch. Oh, no. He went to the bath-sink. What?? Why am *I* to get a bath? Then mommy started hosing me down. I tried. I mewed pitifully. I hissed angrily. But no matter what I did, I just got wetter. Then mommy said that I smelled. Moi?!?!?! I do NOT smell, thank you very much. So they left the soap on for a few minutes to let it really soak in. I hissed more. I mewed more. But alas, nothing would sway them from their course.

Finally, they rinsed me off. And then mommy swaddled me up and cuddled me. Well, that's a bit better. At least she knows that she owes me for this suffering. And we went upstairs, and daddy held me in his lap, all wrapped up in a new towel, and life was better. Then I hopped over to the couch with mommy. Life is better yet. Until she starts to pet me, and finds a clump of fur matted together on my tail. What??? Oh no you don't. There will NOT be a SECOND bath on the same day!! But, mommy felt the same way, so for some reason, she thought going to the sink and just rinsing my tail with some soap and water would be better. Hah - I showed them. I hissed the whole time. Finally, it was time to go back to the couch and sulk.

About half an hour later, momma realized that there were still clumps in my tail. This time, though, she just used scissors and carefully snipped a smidgeon at a time, so that I didn't get cut. Now my tail looks weird, but at least I didn't have to suffer through a third bath!

Lazy days are here

Hi all, sorry for the delay in posting, but my three younger brothers expect me to type all of their messages for them. They've been keeping me busy this week sending e-mails and writing diary entries. But, this afternoon, I told them NO! First I get to write for myself, and THEN I'll write something for them.

It's been a fairly uneventful week for me - Xander got into tons of trouble though, so I got a little extra attention (both from my pets and from him - I liked it from the humans, but could have done without him...). First, he set himself on fire. This is not the first time he's done this, and this was definitely the smallest fire. Just a tiny bit of his tail. But, it was what followed the fire incident that has him still on daddy's bad side.

Mommy told Daddy that he needed to console the brat so Daddy picked him up and Xander slashed daddy! Cut his finger wide open. It was still bleeding 24 hours later. As much as I can respect any cat's proof of their ability to defend themselves - you never ever scratch mommy or daddy! (well, unless there's tuna on the line). So, I got stuck with the brat alllllll night. They locked him out of the first floor and he's afraid to stay in the basement by himself, so he came up and tried to cuddle with me all night - or at least for the parts when he wasn't mewing forlornly at the door to the first floor.

Since then, I've gotten extra kitten food while daddy stands there to make sure that Xander just got to watch. And I got to cuddle with mommy a lot - she's been sick so she's been on the couch napping and in bed napping a lot. Purrfect time for Baby-time! And, to make it even better, this afternoon, while I was snuggling with mommy, daddy opted to toss Xander out in the backyard to play with the puppies. I don't think Xander liked it, but me, Bo, and Luke sure did!

Well, the other three are all whining and asking for me to type for them now, so I will. But, before I go - did you see the new picture of me, enjoying my kitten food? Kitten food is the bestest!

Sunday morning

So, mommy finally got me online for Catster, and I thought I'd say hi! I'm hoping that people here might understand the stress I endure, being an older kitty who now lives with a 3-year-old kitten and 2 young puppies. The puppies at least seem to respect my authority, but not so sure about the little thug.

I'm sitting on mommy's lap this morning, typing. And, I have a lot to say. Meeeee-oooooooow! But, time on lap = good time and purring, so I'm pretty happy. I'd gotten a bit thin lately, so the vet said I get to indulge in kitten food any time I want it. So, I just finished a handful of kitten food and am feeling all better.

For those who haven't met me yet, I'm you kinda generic tabby cat, but with a lot of personality. The first vet mommy took me to (back in Philly) said that I'd been separated from my real mommy too young, and they say I meow wierd (*I* think I meow just fine, thank you very much). I had a rough life on my teeth - when mommy adopted me I was 6 years old, and only had 5 teeth left. Since then I broke one of my molars and one of my canine teeth (when I was 14), so I had to have surgery to have those removed. But, I still like crunchy food better than almost anything -- who doesn't love tuna???

My tiny paws work great on the keyboard, so I normally am responsible for typing for the other three animals. But, please don't blame me for what they say - the agreement was that I would type whatever they wanted and wouldn't comment on it. (In exchange, they leave my bowls of food be, so it's worth the little effort).

Well, this is as long as I stay awake any day, so it's time to go take a nice long catnap. talk to you later!
