Arrival Story:
Matilda was left outside in winter when her last owner moved away. When I got her, she was in rough shape and we had to shave her dreadlocks off.
Bio:
She only has a few teeth left. She has suffered from chronic cystitis of the bladder, but has been very healthy since we got a pet fountain and she drinks more water. She tends to be pretty cranky around the other cats, but loves to sit on laps and be loved!
Matilda was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and renal failure at the end of May 2007. She only has 15% kidney function left, but is now on a Rx diet and thyroid medicine 2x a day. She just got her blood checked and is responding well to her treatment.
UPDATE: As of the end of December, Matilda's kidney function is down to less than 10%. She is still eating very well and very loving and playful. She drinks lots and lots of water, but we are doing the sub Q fluids every other day. She is so good and lets me give her the fluids without a problem. She knows she feels better afterwards!

I have been tagged by both Maus & Dusty!
Here are 5 facts about ME!
1) When Mom first got me at age 12, I had to have my entire body shaved because I was so matted and dirty. I was abandoned when my last owner moved away. I looked half the size without my fur and it was COOOLD!
2) I have CRF & hyperthyroid but I try not to let it get me down.
3) I love all food. I am always hungry. I will try any people food at least once.
4) I am pretty scared of my fur bro, Leaf. He is such a bully to me, but mom squirts him with the water gun and protects me.
5) I am the only cat who is allowed outside because I don't go more than 10 feet from the house and I just like to go out and eat some grass. The boys in my family can't be trusted to go out.

Wow I can't believe they picked an old gal like me to be cat of the day! I feel so honored! I hope Mom takes out that special tuna that I saw in the cabinet. This is going to be a wonderful day!
