Arrival Story:
A local animal rescue called me looking for some help. Five kittens were dropped off to be put to sleep because their mother could not take care of them. I never did ask what happened to her....I didn't want to know! They were only 3 weeks old and were very tiny. This was my first time taking care of orphand kittens and I was a little paranoid. I weighed them daily and charted each tiny furballs progress. My two girls and I would take turns going in their room to let them play or sleep on us, whatever they wanted to do. Three of the five found great homes (Bat Woman, Clayton and Lucky) very quickly. Once we were down to two it was so hard to let go. One was the runt and the other had such pretty coloring. We just had to keep them BOTH!

Bio:
Tookie was the runt of the litter. I think the first few nights she was with us I did not even sleep. I would lay there and wonder if she was strong enough to make it through the night. She did not play like the other kitties, she just wanted to curl up in my lap after eating. A few times she had to be treated for one thing or another. Now she is just as healthy as her sister. Sometimes it is even hard to tell them apart! I named her Tookie because of a kitten we fell in love with around Y2K. It was January 1999 and all people could talk about was Y2K. We called the little kitten 2k or Tookie and decided to name this little one after her for luck. It must have worked!
