Mommy came home briefly in the middle of the day and I was totally not expectin' her. She called for me but I didn't answer...after all, it wouldn't be time for my fish oil or my chicken baby food, so what would be the point? As she came to the bedroom end of the house she stopped outside the door, laughing, and called to Pops, "Come see this!" Pops came to the doorway of the spare bedroom and joined Mommy in laughing and laughing. There I was - cradled in the special hammock laid out for me on the bed. One of Mommy's still slightly damp sweaters was carefully laid out on it as a nice cushion for me. Altogether a delightful situation! I approve.

Transitioning to a nearly entirely indoor kitty has been interesting to say the least. Mommy & Pops are learning how good they've had it with the absence of litter box duties for the last few years but Mommy says it's a small trade-off to know that I'm safe all night. Pops figured out a way to keep me confined to three rooms of the house during the night and away from their bedroom so I'm not constantly pestering them to go out. Eventually, I think they'll let me back in the bedroom to sleep with them once I've become fully accustomed to stayin' inside all night.
We've had company the last few days. There's a big, older fella who Mommy calls "Dad". I like him and he likes me, too. He gives me good pets and ear scritches and gave me so many treats the other day that I urped them all over my bed covers. Mommy told him he had to "ratchet back" after that. The other person, who Mommy calls "Mom" isn't all that interested in me but she's OK, too.
I step out on the back porch for a little while in the afternoons and snooze under the patio table. The glass top lets the sun shine through so I'm toasty. Mommy keeps the window open so she can hear what's goin' on outside though I prefer it if she stays with me. Too many "skeeters" she says. It's gettin' cold at night so I'm kinda likin' staying inside where it's warm. Sure isn't as interesting as nighttime in back yard, tho.

I am pleased to report that I continue to heal well and am going outside only briefly each day (in the daylight) and with supervision. All of a sudden it seems scarier out there than before. I was out helpin' Mommy pull weeds the other day (I eat some of the grassy ones)and she was laughin' at me and callin' me kitty-velcro. Still, every night I'm bugging my purrents to let me OUT, OUT, OUT! Meowing, pacing, scratching at the side of the bed...nothin' seems to work. Last night I even managed to break out of the laundry room where they've been stashing me so they can get some sleep. Breakin' out meant pushing open a door that was blocked with a bar-stool. Nothin' wrong with my man-cat muscles! Unfortunately, all my break-out accomplished was a trip to the garage for me, my litter box, my bed, my water and my food...all the while Mommy was grumblin' about midnight workouts. I’m tryin’ to understand that maybe Mommy & Pops know best. We’ll see…
While being cat of the week was somewhat overshadowed by this rough patch it was still a wondrous time. I heard from so many dear friends and felt like the luckiest cat in Kansas. I heard from and received congratulations from Mercy, Oly, Noah, Petrie, Oliver and family, dear Luke, the SF Gals (Chai Latte, Little Bit, Sugar Bear and Misty) Miss Mittens, Aeden, Shadow, my best girl’s family (O’Malley, Aldo, Squeaky, James Tailer, Sweetie, and the ever-so-beautiful Miss Jazzie), Spitfire, Freddie, Purscilla and Katrina, Scooter (my first Catster pal), Bubby, Aria, Bitta, Mikey, Simon, Charm, Tatti and Aria, my old and dear friend Calvin, my new niece Allie Kat and family, Molly and Misha, Foucault, the family of Adam, Dylan, Eve Layla, Puddin Keket, Puff Amenti, Pumpkin and Little One, Rizza, Da (oh so very cool) Tabbies O Trout Towne, Ava Corinne, Andy, Arli, Augie, Purrsia, and Minka, Navin R.
