Arrival Story:
My cousin had an Aby that I used to babysit. I had Moki, an older black female cat from a shelter, and wanted to get her a companion. So we went to the breeder and I selected this ruddy male with enormous ears who talked the whole time I held him. When I first got him, he'd just been weaned and I could hold him in one hand, with his front legs on one side of my hand and his back legs on the other. His tail was so tiny it was just a triangle!

Bio:
A few months after Moki died, I went back to the same shelter in South Carolina and adopted another black female named Maui. She was a couple years younger than Mica, but had a tough early life. The two of them were never big buddies, but enjoyed hitting the dog on the head when he was a nosy pup. She passed away from cancer last summer and since then, Mica and Petey have become better friends. I occassionally catch them snuggled up next to each other on the couch. But Mica still likes to tease him by racing around the room and then jumping up on the bed out of reach. I think Petey wishes he was a cat sometimes.

kit-chen renovation

For the past 5 weeks, we've been renovating the Kitchen. This has resulted in the moving of my lavatory to the bedroom where I most enjoy dropping stinkbombs right as Mom is drifting off to sleep! "Blame it on the dog!"

Speaking of which, the bonemeister has been relegated to the bedroom during the day while the carpenters/plumber/electrician have been here which has allowed me complete control as contractor. In addition, the living room has become a kitty playground of boxes, boxes, and more...boxes! I've found the plastic drop cloths make cozy nests for napping and hiding the damn dog's favorite ball!

I hope this renovation goes on forever — though I've noticed it's changed Mom's hair from blonde to gray, almost overnight...
