I don't believe this. I almost finished a diary and it disappeared! Fleas, of course, don't go away even on Christmas eve!

Also, Santa Paws will be cruising Calvert Hills some time around 8:00 p.m. tonight. Around here, he rides in a fire engine and not in a flying sleigh.

Also, we had unseasonably warm temps on Friday and the weekend. On Saturday it got up to 72 degrees! It felt like springtime. Everyone was loving it! Now, Old Man Winter is back with a howling wind and 37 degrees with an expected low of 30 tonight. Bundle up, my friends and also cuddle!

Also, I thank my friends who have sent some Christmas trees to us. We'll try to do that too.

Lastly, I wish everycat and their parents a very safe and Merry Christmas!

Purrs & Breeps,

P.S. Enjoy the Christmas Cuddle Bros pic!

My oh my, Joss has done it again with being in the Diary Limelight. Concats, Joss!

Also, Mommy has a vet appointment scheduled for me on Saturday so they can look at my tooth to see if I need another anti-biotic shot. I'm feeling pretty good as I let Mommy medicate me without yelping or running away. She even told me that the painkiller dose has been reduced a little bit. The vet will also tell her when to take me off the painkillers. She also has a concern as to why I'm shedding a lot (I have bald spots on both sides of my neck. Perhaps, I need more than one Tapazole a day. We shall see. Wish me luck.

Purrs & Breeps,

P.s. I all so thank everyone who has given me Power of the Paws and purrs.

Mommy received in the mail yesterday, the cardiologist's "Assessment" Here goes:

"Sampson has a history of restrictive cardiomyopathy with pericardial effusion and collapsing episodes prompting the previous visit. With the decrease in Sotalol dose to 10 mg twice daily from 20 mg every 12 hours, Sampson's sinus bradycardia has resolved. The heart appears essentially unchanged from prior visit with only a minimal amount of pericardial effusion present. His decreased appetite is concerning as well as his weight loss. It may represent progressive cardiac cachexia, progressive renal disease, uncontrolled thyroid levels, or be secondary to decreased appetite from the tooth abscess. It will be important to monitor his weight and appetite and recheck labwork (Chem, T4) at his C.P. Animal Hospital. Although he is a poor candidate for anesthesia, if his appetite does not improve and is a result of the tooth pain, a consultation with a veterinary dentist is advised. They may be able to take out the tooth with minimal anesthesia and/or local blocks."

I'm supposed to get rechecked at the cardiologist's 3-6 months or sooner if I have any weakness or collapses. I'm also to get my blood checked if my appetite remains decreased.

Anyway, I'm doing pretty good now. Today, I ate some dry food and loved the gravy off the tuna that Landy mentioned. Mommy has slightly decreased the painkiller dose too. The vet wants her to gradually do this but not to discontinue it until my blood work is checked out to see if the infection in my tooth is gone.

Wish me luck and purrs are appreciated so I can continue feeling better.

I know my time is not long and no one knows when I'll be called to the Bridge. Only God knows that. In the meantime, I'm taking it one day at a time and enjoying being around Mommy and my lovely new sister and my cuddle buddy, Landy and of course Bail and Merl.

Well, that's it for now. It's medication time for me.

Wow! I got honored on the day after a thanksgiving for my diary the day before. Thank you so much, Diary Gal!

I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats as follows:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. SMILEY CASSANOVA - cool comment;
3. PLATELICKER - pretty blue rosette.

Also, us kitties (me, Landy & Bail) got to enjoy some chicken parts such as the liver and heart. Boy oh boy was that ever yummy! Poor Joss and Merl were hiding under the couch the whole time Auntie Mary was here so they missed out on these goodies. I don't know why those two are so shy and skiitesh around anyone who visits Mommy.

Anyway, we still have cold weather and Landy's still keeping me warm.

Lastly, I feel pretty good and I'm still taking my meds without any problems.

That's it for now. Have a great Friday night my friends!

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner!! My time does fly when you get older!

Auntie Mary will be coming by on that day with food; cornish hens, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, stuffing, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie with whipped cream. After the food is prepared, Auntie Mary and Mommy will take the food to Mary's Dad's place where the three of them will have Thanksgiving dinner. Any leftovers will be brought back later that evening. I'm looking for some chicken and whipped cream (not together though). It's just that I love those two yummy items. I'm sure my sibs will go for the chicken.

Anyway, I'm doing okay and Landy's still being my nurse. It's like he's glued to me. It's nice as he keeps me warm because I'm cold a lot due to my bald chest (shaving from last month's cardiologist visit).

Got to go now

As everycat knows, I had my cardiologist visit today. First of all, my regular cardiologist wasn't there. It was a woman this time. Both Mommy and I prefer the man as he was nicer to talk to even though he shaved me.

All in all, I still don't like being held down while they clamp those wires to my chest. The tech had to put an e-collar on me, and guess what I did? I bit into it as I was really hissed off. I'm glad this whole visit is over with and i'm back home in my bed with Landy.

My heart beat is 140 which is good. Mommy was told to keep me on the reduced sotalol. They also found that there was a small amount of fluid around my heart. The cardiologist then told Mommy that I was in heart failure. She asked her how long I had and she couldn't predict that.

It's so sad getting old and have to deal with all these awful diseases. Mommy feels the same way as she got the blood work results for her kidney function, and it's not good. The doctor wants to refer her to a nephrologist. Mommy cried and is quite shaken up over this bad news along with my health issues. When mommy hears stuff like this she freaks out and worries constantly.

Lastly, I thank Gleek and Platelicker for their concerned comments. It means a lot to me and Mommy.

Check out my #2 pic! Landy and I were sleeping like this earlier today and Mommy had to take this pic. It immediately when on FB and of course, now it's here on Catster.

Landy has been a great nurse to me ever since I've had my falling episodes and the toothie episode. The falling episodes have stopped since I had my meds decreased. As you can see by my last diary, my lower left canine was all swollen and achey. With the help of a week lasting antibiotic shot and painkillers, Mommy can now open my mouth to get my meds in. I also have a visit with the cardiologist tomorrow to see how the decreased sotalol is helping my heart to beat faster (also the decreased thyroid med will show that my heart is beating faster). The vet listened to my heart the other day and said it was about 140 (this is where the cardiologist wanted it to be).

And oh yes, we did have a salmon party today in Joss' honor. It was yummy too!

Also, I thank Angel Buddie for the blue healing rosette that came in earlier today. It's very kind of him to think of me.

Lastly, I concat Joss on her Diary Pick today! Way to go, sis!

Well, that's it from me for now. I hope everycat's weekend is going great.

Ever since last Sunday, I had a very ouchey mouth. I would not let Mommy give me my meds starting said evening. On Monday, November 18, I still wouldn't let Mommy medicate me. So off to the vet, I went.

It turned out that I had an abscessed lower left canine. I was given a painkiller injection along with an antibiotic. Due to my restrictive cardiomyopathy, I can't get oral surgery to remove said tooth as it would put me into cardiac arrest.

Therefore, my treatment plan consisted of painkillers, antibiotics and Mommy dropping me off at the vet's Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally, on Thursday (today), I allowed Mommy to give me my heart meds with no growling, wiggling or running away and hiding. Also, my chin doesn't look like Jay Leno's anymore. I feel much better.

Also, on Tuesday, I was really high on the painkillers. I ran up and down the stairs, played in my water dish and sang to Joss. That evening, Joss laid beside me on Mommy's bed which is an all time record.

Lastly, Mommy and I thank all cat Mommies & Daddies on FB who showed their concerns for me and Mommy during my tooth problems.

It means a lot to us. We love all of you!

Good morning, everycat! It is surely a happy Monday, as I'm in the Diary Spotlight! Thank you Diary Gal for this honor!

I also thank my pawsome friends for their concats:

1. ANGEL BUDDIE & Family - pawsome pawmail;
2. SMILEY CASSANOVA - pawsome pawmail & cool comment;
3. PLATELICKER - friend's request;
4. ELSA - yummy drumstick;
5. TATE - yummy turkey.

Another weekend has gone by with my health improving. I even wanted to go outside yesterday when Mommy took out the garbage. She had to stop me from walking out the door. She was going to let me out while she held me in her arms in the afternoon as it was a warm day. By that time, it was rather windy and she decided against it as I still have a bald chest from when my cardiologist shaved it. Geeee, she could have put one of her old, too small sweaters on me.

Aside from feeling better, I'm shedding a lot. All this loose hair gets on my tongue (yes, I have more energy to groom myself) and I spit it back out before it becomes a hairball. Of course, I'm getting hairballs more often too. Mommy doesn't know why all this shedding is going on. Hopefully, it's not my thyroid levels being too high again. Purrs are needed for this.

Also, since I have more energy, Landy wants to wrestle with me like in the past. I told him firmly "No!" with several loud hisses and screeching growls. Mommy had to yell at him to leave me alone.

Lastly, our Thanksgiving pages are done (us five in house cats) and the backgrounds are of awesome fall colors that Mommy took last weekend.

Well, I must go now as it's almost time for breakfast.

Purrs & Breeps,

P.S. I thank TIMMY & MARMELADE for their Power of the Paws and concerns for my health.

Since October 27, I haven't had anymore falling episodes. My energy has picked up, my ears are warm instead of cold, I hold my head up better, eat better, and sing and interact more with Mommy and my sibs. I even play and have had catnip a few times.

Yep, this King still reigns!

Also, it's hard to believe that Halloween has come and go. Landy, Joss and I periodically peeked out the front door (the screen part was closed) when the trick or treaters came by. Merl and Bail stayed upstairs during this time.

Soon, Thanksgiving will be here! Mommy plans on changing our pages this weekend or maybe Friday night.
