"Cupcake Dreams" as we call them--this involves lying on her back, with her legs curled in the air, and her little tongue happily flicking while she, presumably, dreams about running through fields of cupcakes.
Being caught playing with another cat (they're only her friends when no one is looking), not being let outside, and being told to wait until we're finished eating to start sampling our dinners--she's been known to protest loudly any of the former.
Feathers and catnip-filled mice, milk rings, dog's tails, and bits of fluff the dogs remove from their toys.
Favorite Nap Spot:
Cuddled up with a nice warm dog or lying in the sun on the deck.
Sweet creaminess--frosting, browned butter, whipped cream, milk. Buttered sour cream from baked potatoes. Tuna, Salmon, Chicken, Turkey . . . she's a big fan of food in general.
Somehow, she's convinced the dogs they are her body guards and has them do her bidding.
A friend asked us if we might help out his daughter, who needed to find a new home for her cat due to an impending move and hadn't had much luck. We didn't need another cat and were planning a move ourselves at the time (though we'd never even consider displacing our pets for a move!), but we said, sure, we'd take her in until we could find her a home. At the time, we weren't told much about that cat, only that she was an older Himalayan.
We were sorry we didn't ask more questions when she was delivered to our doorstep. She was the angriest, grouchiest, meanest cat we'd ever encountered! We put her in our guest bedroom, alone, and gave her plenty of time to calm down, but she wanted nothing to do with us. We quickly realized finding this particular cat a home was not going to be an easy task and worried we'd be "saddled" with her forever.
When she'd been with us for a few weeks, I started wondering if she couldn't be won over with some special treatment. It wasn't long before I realized she hadn't been treated well in her former home and expected more of the same from us. With a lot of tender care and some really good catering, she eventually came around, made herself at home, and started bossing the dogs about the house. That's when she really stole our hearts.
Ophelia is a sweet, friendly cat now; eager to purr in a timorous and endearing manner, quick to chat, and inclined to push her way through a crowed of excited Border Collies to get whatever she wants. In many ways, she runs our household. We could hardly have imagined how important she would become to us when we met her, but she's a light in our lives today.

It's about time. I almost had to wait.
