Arrival Story:
I was leaving a potluck at the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center on Harkers Island. Walking directly toward me, down the middle of the driving lane of the parking lot, was this grey kitty. He walked right up to me and began stropping my legs and followed me to my truck. When I opened the door, he hopped right in. Since there are no occupied homes right close to the museum, and he did not appear to be feral, I figured he had been dumped. Took him home, whereupon he began INHALING the dog's water. I put posters of him at the Museum and nearby Cape Lookout National Seashore Visitor Center, but no one called... so "Harker" as we came to call him, came to stay.
