Tabbygail was either abandonned or lost, and she ended up in our neighborhood (not the same neighborhood that Schedoni was abandonned in) sometime in late January of 2000. So, because our house must have some kind of neon sign on it that says "Hungry kitties, go here", Tabby, a Bengal mix munchkin (we suspect), came up to the door. After feeding her for a couple of weeks, she got close enough so we could handle her, and we suspected she might be pregnant. Then, a few days later on February 11, the weather turned really nasty and storms set in, so into our house and into our lives came Tabbygail ("Mom cat" at that point). Late at night on February 13, she had 3 kittens; at two minutes past midnight, she had the fourth kitten, which we also adopted along with "Mom cat".
Tabbygail was approximately 3-4 years old when she appeared. After we came to know and love this sweet, shy little lady, we found the name "Tabbygail" suited her. In time, Tabbygail developed strong bonds with two of her now angel brothers, Nigel and Schedoni (who is in the picture with her). Since their and angel TouchNot's Bridge-crossings, Tabbygail is our senior kitty in residence. (We also currently feed five ferals who must have seen that blasted neon sign!!!)
Tabby loves to sleep in the sun on the top of the cat tree or at the foot of our bed. She's very skittish around strangers and very loving to us. She loves to chatter at squirrels and hummingbirds (probably in frustration at being separated by a pane of glass) and to hiss at the feral kitties through the screen door.
Tabbygail was a very good mommy to her kitties, and her daughter, Tanith, the Feline American Princess born on Valentine's day (seen with angel Schedoni and Mom Tabbygail in the picture on this page), is incredibly spoiled as a result. Tabbygail's "kitten-bearing" days are over, now and she's content to be a love-bucket.
UPDATE: Tonight (October 17) we helped our sweet girl, Tabbygail, to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you to all Catsters who have been purring her and who have sent wonderful gifts, which really cheered her up before her passing.
