Update on Me

Hi Friends,

Thank you all for the well-wishes, it means so much! I am feeling a bit better today. The fluids are really helping, and the shots too I would guess. I have been up and around, not sleeping all day long, which is good. And the best thing is, I am asking for food regularly. My parents blend up my food into a "soup" so I can eat it easily, even with my gums so swollen.

An update on my grandmaw, as a few of you have inquired. She had her surgery today and is resting now in her hospital room. My mom is going to call her tomorrow morning. Mom leaves Sunday for my grandparent's house. She will be bringing her catputer, so she'll keep you updated on how I am doing with Dad at home.

Love you all tons!

I'm not doing too well. My parents took me to the vet yesterday because my gums are all swollen. The vet said that I am dehydrated and that I might have some issues with my kidneys, which are affecting my mouth. The vet gave me a shot of Prednisone and a shot of antibiotics that will last 14 days and my parents will do fluids at home for 14 days. I am so glad the vet gave me the shots because my parents won't have to pill me. I hate pills!

My mom is leaving for my grandmother's house on Sunday. She will be there for seven days helping my grandma after her surgery. So, my dad has to do my fluids by himself while she's gone. Hopefully he will do okay.

I don't know what all this means for me, but my parents want to keep me comfortable and happy for as long as possible. I see the vet again on the 11th of February. I will keep you posted. Being 17 sure isn't easy!

Halloween Tag Game

Bobbi Boi tagged me to play the Halloween Game! I am to pick my five most favorite things about Halloween, and then tag six other kitties:

1. I like the "treat" in tricks 'o treat! We get special treats on Halloween.

2. Halloween is "my" night since I am a black kitty. It's good that I am safe and sound inside my house. I wouldn't want anyone playing any tricks on me!

3. I enjoy the cold weather, since I have long fur. It's usually nice and cold on Halloween and I can cuddle up in a blanket next to Mom on the couch.

4. We don't have to wear costumes, Dad won't let Mom dress us up! MOL

5. I enjoy the smell of freshly cut pumpkin! Mom likes to carve one for us to have inside to look at; 'cause we don't get trick 'o treaters on our street.

I am tagging:

I forgot to mention I had my dental procedure back in June. The vet removed five teeth--two canines and three others. I am doing better now with my healthy mouth! :)

My weight isn't where Mom and Dad would like yet. They would like me to gain another two pounds, but that's a lot for a kitty to gain! I eat very well and it seems to my parents that I feel good. My checkup is due in another few months. I'll keep you posted!

Great News!

I had my check up and blood panel. My thyroid level is just where it should be; I am doing very well on the liquid Methimizole. Also, my liver and kidney values are normal! Plus, I gained half a pound in a month. My parents are pureeing my food in the blender now. I love my "baby" food!! Pretty soon I can get my dental procedure done. I have to be in good shape before I can go under anesthesia :)

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry—
I am not there... I did not die...

I will always love you Peeps...

Dear Furrends,

I had my blood panel done on Friday and my vet said that my thyroid value is normal! That means that she found the right medication level for me to take. I will continue to take it the rest of my life.

Also, my liver enzymes went down by half from 1200 to 600. It still isn't anywhere near normal, but it's a step in the right direction! The SamE and fluids definitely helped, as well as all of your purrs for my recovery.

I gained a half a pound! My vet was pleased. My appetite is very good and it looks like the Hyperthyroidism is not leeching calories away from my body.

I shall go back for a check-up and blood panel in 12 weeks. So, no more poking and prodding for awhile. Phew! :)

Thank you efurrybody for your prayers and purrs. I will keep you posted as to how I am doing in the next weeks.

Hi Everyone,

Taylor has been eating on her own since the 6th of this month! We are very happy :) She gets her thyroid value done on Thursday and her liver values two weeks later. We are hoping her numbers go down on both counts.

For now she seems happy and in good spirits. We will let know how things go at the vet.

Update 09/10/09

Taylor is still eating on her own and taking fluids well. We have an appointment next week to get her Thyroid retested. Something we are concerned about is a possible side-effect from her thyroid medication which is liver damage.

Taylor's liver enzymes are high and the ultrasound showed a small liver. Taylor's liver values were normal before she started the treatment for hyperthyroidism.

We'll retest the liver enzymes in two weeks. In the mean time, Taylor seems to have good energy and be in good spirits!

Thank you for all your purrs for Taylor!
