Arrival Story:
A friend of mine had a pregnant cat. She phoned us as mum went into labour. We missed seeing no. 1 kitten coming out (grey & white - now called Velcroe), but we saw no. 2 (grey - Shadow), and no. 3 (Pixie). All came out tail first. How could we not adopt one. I chose Pixie because of her colouring. She had a black nose on a white face when first born, though her nose is now pink. And she had some funky white zigs and zags into her tabby patches. She has retained most of those. First day we had her home she strolled right up to dog Griffin to rub against his chest. She's been so over the "but, he's a dog" thing since.

Just as she turned 6 months old, Pixie went missing. She would always greet me as I walked in the the door after work (sitting in the hallway), but this day she didn't, and I knew something was up. We hunted for two days, and finally we arrived home from picking up a pizza (too sad to cook), and heard a scratchy cat crying out from nearby. She was trapped underneath a neighbour's house!! We took the back of a hammer and pulled off some ventilation grating to rescue her. She was wet, muddy, cold and very hungry (she'd missed 4 meals and is a skinny cat anyway).

What I got up to when mummy couldn't find me

On Saturday night I went wandering around my neighbourhood a bit, and I found a big open nouthed cave, just like the one under our house. I thought it might be interesting to have a look around inside. There was lots and lots of cool stuff for me to climb over, and the cave went quite deep.

Whenever people came into the cave I just hid so they didn't know I was there.

At some point, though, a big door came down over the entrance to the cave, and I couldn't get out. When it got dark and I wanted to be home I called and called for mummy, but she mustn't have been able to hear me.

I don't know how long I was in there, but I do know I missed some meal times. Mum says I only missed a breakfast and a dinner. Because early this morning the lady that lives in the house above the cave alerted my mummy and daddy that she had heard a cat under her house. Mum & Dad had just been about to leave for work, but they ran over the street, and hunted in the big cave for me. I was a bit nervous, but eventually I let dad see me when he came towards me with a light, then mum called me, so I answered back, and ran into her arms . Then I ran home where there was a BIG feed of biscuits waiting for my return.

Mummy was intrigued by a sparrow today (a sodding bird!!). It was hanging around on the front lawn, and mummy was able to get really close and take heaps of photos - she likes using the camera. But then she was worried that the bird wasn't flying away... she thought maybe it wasn't able to. She tried chasing it herself, but it just hopped out of reach of her.

So, I thought I'd help out. I snuck up around the side of the garden, and slunk towards the lawn... but once I got the the edge of the lawn I was wide open to be seen, and sure enough, the darn sparrow was able to fly after all!
