Arrival Story:
Jed appeared in our yard a few weeks after some neighbors moved out of state and left their cats behind. He was skin-and-bones but friendly. I put out food for him, and about a week later, he brought over an equally emaciated and badly injured female cat and her litter of very wild kittens. The mother cat appeared too weak and sick to care for her kittens, so Jed took over, washing and playing with the kittens. Eventually, I was able to win the trust of the momcat and bring her inside so I could care for her. I also managed to catch two of the kittens, tame them, and place them in loving homes. (The other two kittens are very feral, but I am putting food out for them.)
At one point, Jed disappeared for four days and I was very worried about him, so when he finally showed up again, I brought him inside the house (against my husband's wishes). Jed has been neutered and gets along well with our other cats, especially Curly, who usually doesn't like strange cats but took to Jed like a long-lost buddy. Jed is a sweet kitty with a very quiet purr, and he is very much loved.
