What about ME??????

HEY, I live here, too. Just cuz I don't climb up and get stuck in the top of a tree I get no diary entries????
Just cuz I am healthy and not sick I get no diary entries??
And, I stay in the house like a good kitty, so I get no diary entries???
Something is wrong with this picture. I am the good cat, I obey Mom, I love everyone, I don't hiss and spit at the dogs, I stay in the house and don't cause Mom to worry about where I am or how I am, and I NEVER get sick. I don't even leave chewed up mousies all over the house.
Soo, what do I get for all this good???
NOTHIN'!!!!!!

MY outdoor experiences....

A few weeks ago I discovered a HUGE hole in the screen on the porch door. It was just MY size and I could leap up, squeeze thru the hole and be FREE!!!
It WAS pretty scary outside so I mostly just stayed on the porch with one eye on my hole. If I saw anything different, or worse, if Mom or one of the girls spied me, I just hopped up and squeezed back inside to the Summer kitchen and pretended I never left.
One day Mom took some duct tape and taped over my screen hole...didn't fool me, I KNOW that duct tape doesn't stick to screen so I just climbed up, moved it aside and headed out. I knew she wasn't happy, but, oh well!!!
A few days later I jumped up, went to squeeze thru my hole and it was GONE!!! Mom had replaced the holey screen when I wasn't looking! Did you know it is almost impossible to rip a hole in METAL SCREEN???? I am here, inside, telling you that is true!
Oh well, I don't mind, I really WAS afraid outside. There are lots of noises, cars, people, and one day the sky was even leaking. I will stay inside with Dijon, thank you very much!!!!

Three months later, NO 70's

I was just reading the last Diary entry I wrote, way, way back in March. The temperature was in the 70's!!! Today is the first day the sun has shone in over a week, AND, the temperature made it all the way up to 64 degrees. Hmmm, me thinks something is wrong here. It is supposed to be SUMMER in our part of the world.
Both Dijon and I have discovered a great new toy. They are little black things with wings and they get in the windows and bounce around when we chase them. Sometimes there are even some with BIG colored wings, and some are shiny black with long skinny bodies. Mom yells at us when we chase those, she says they will get us??? Dunno what she means by that.
I suspect she doesn't want us to have those cuz they are bigger and she is saving them for the dogs???
Anyway, Mom took the plastic off the windows a bit ago and those black things don't sound as loud now when they flutter around up there. It's okay, there is still plastic on the Summer kitchen windows and there are more of those flying things out there, too.
Well, gotta go now, Dijon and Jimmy are headed out to the Summer kitchen and I gotta go, too. Did I tell you, Jimmy is MY new special friend. Dijon was always playing with Smokey and I had no one at all, which meant I had to keep bugging Mom to pat me or feed me all the time. She brought me Jimmy from work and now he and I play ALL the time, even when Dijon is off sleeping with Smokey.

Summertime and the living is easy!

Yesterday and today it was in the seventies. Our house is VERY, VERY old, it was built in 1794, and it has a full cellar so it takes forever for it to warm up in the Spring. Well, today Smokey invited me and Dijon out to enjoy the warmth in his Summer kitchen.
I had no idea it was so neat out there!! There are a million hiding places and lots of great smells like mice and squirrels and stuff. There are windows WITHOUT plastic all over them and you can sit in the window and look out at the birds and stuff outside.
And, best of all, if you are really, really fast, you can sneak out into the real world if someone comes in the front door and isn't watching for you, MOL!
Yup, it happened to ME. Julie's husband came with his son to get a big piece of furniture Mom had for them. It was VERY HEAVY, and they were moving very slowly so I took advantage of that and raced out between their legs!
It must be VERY nice outside cuz Mom immediately halted them moving furniture and ran out and grabbed me! She was telling me that I DO NOT have outdoor privileges, she learned her lesson with Smokey and fortunately, he lived to tell about his outdoor days! I will have to think about this a bit more...it sure did look interesting to me!
Dijon is a wimp and he runs and hides when someone comes to visit so he was inside hiding under the futon with Joey!
Not me, I am a social butterfly!! Hey, butterflies are fun to chase outside, I hear???

I had an operation...

Yesterday we had a big snow storm here. Mom was talking to the veterinarian when he came to plow the driveway and of course, he suggested they might have some time to do some surgeries due to cancellations. Naturally, Mother thought of me and Dijon and Jimmy.
Soo, she packed us all up in our carriers and Sarah delivered us up there. It wasn't a bad day, at least what I remember of it wasn't bad. ALL those people up there thought I was the cutest thing they had ever seen and they kept calling Mom and asking her if they could have me. Really???? I wonder why they thought I needed a different home????
Anyway, except for an awful belly ache last night it wasn't too bad. Mom had to put a bandaid on my stitches cuz Dijon kept licking them!!!
I slept okay but the dogs kept jiggling the bed and it HURT. Dijon didn't seem to mind, he was pretty much perfect and played and played with Smokey and Joey, almost all night long.
We didn't see Jimmy cuz he stayed at work all night.

Mom loves BOY CATS more!

I have a very, very mean Mother. She keeps telling me how she loves boy cats more than girl cats. That is so not nice!
Frankly, I don't do anything wrong. Just cuz I get to eat my fill FIRST, then the boys can eat doesn't mean that is bad, does it???
And, just because I LOVE to climb on the table and steal the meat out of Mom's sandwiches when she goes to put the rest back in the refrigerator doesn't mean there is a problem with me, it only means that I am smarter than those boy cats, duh!
And, I think it is only nice and very respectful of me to climb up on Momsie and snuggle around her throat when she's sleeping. I can't help it if I purr so loudly. I can't help it if I MUST lick her face a bit, right? And, when I have had enough, I don't stick around like those silly brown nosing boy cats. They are real suckups, that is for certain.
And, when Mom is looking for us she always finds those boy cats in their usual places...not me, I am bold and independent and I go wherever my spirit moves me. Can I help it if I am comfy sleeping on the rug in the bathroom and those others are snoozing on her bed in their usual place. And, if tomorrow she is looking for me I shall NOT be sleeping on the rug in the bathroom...I may be on top of the washing machine OR sleeping in the empty crate in the dog room OR sleeping on the bookcase, OR.......
I can because I am a GIRL CAT!!!!

Snow storm...

Today there was a big storm. It was mostly snow here, but it was pretty icy so they called off school. Because there was no school my friend Julia decided to come to work with her mother.
Since she was at work and I was at home Mom had her come over and get both me and Dijon so we could play with her and Jimmy.
Of course, she brought Mom's camera along.
Fortunately, I only had one photo and Mom actually took that one, MOL. I was getting some lovin' from Julia and Mom said it was a nice photo so she took it.
BUT, just as we were really getting into the photo shooting the silly storm made the power go off. We hung around for a while with Julia but after the first hour Mom told her Mom to go along home since there was nothing she could do at work with no power, no water and no heat.
So, Julia put us in a cage with Jimmy and we hung out with him until Julie finally took us home when she got done working. It was a pretty busy day, at least a break from our normal boring morning at home and another chance to play with Jimmy.

Christmas toys

Wow, Santa Paws brought us a whole bunch of new toys!!! We got so many that I can't even decide which ones to play with first! Guess I will have to play with them all, BOL!
Last night Mom brought her camera to bed with her. She said she was going to wake up at midnight cuz legend has it that is when the animals speak.
Well, not sure we said too many words, but we sure did race around alot, hehehe! Even Joey poked his head out and played with us. Mom was laughing so much she couldn't get too many photos.
Me and Dijon have really learned how to climb now. We climb up on EVERYTHING, then go exploring from there. It is amazing how different the room looks when you are up high!!
Mom had a little worry about me last night. She noticed my eye was watering and I was quiet. She had a kitten at work that was sick when he came here and she was worried I was getting sick, too. She couldn't remember if I was with that kitten or not, but she knew Dijon was with him.
We haven't had our shots yet cuz Mom is still trying to figure out how old we are. She thinks we are much younger than she originally thought... like maybe we are now about seven weeks old. She wants to wait as long as she can before giving us our shots cuz it's better for our immune systems.
Anyway, when she was looking at our photos she noticed one where Dijon had his little foot RIGHT in my eye! And, one where I got him back, too. She decided since I act fine and am playing like crazy that I must have a sore eye from him poking it or something. At any rate, it is fine today!!!
She says she will give us our shots on New Years day so she can remember when she did it... that is when she gives the dogs theirs if they need them, too.
Happy New Year!!!!

Ahh, life is good...

Well, Mom has decided that Dijon and I can now handle being in the WHOLE house while she is at work. She does keep the dogs all in their room...not a problem since we appreciate the quiet!!
Dijon and I are pretty comfy in here. Once in a while Smokey gets a bit rough with us. If he gets Dijon, he just goes limp and Smokey marches off in a huff. If he gets me, I scream bloody murder and it scares him so he marches off in a huff.
The neatest part is that we can select whichever dog bed we want and snooze away uninterrupted. I prefer the fleece covered one, Dijon likes the little round one near the Christmas tree. Smokey gets in a kitchen chair and oversees us.
Today we were very, very bored! Dijon and I decided to go check out the waterbed cuz it was a bit cool in here. I smelled something good on Mom's night stand, so I climbed up there to check it out.
Suddenly, the big box with the pictures on it was on!! It was even on an animal show, our favorite! We settled down on the pillows to watch for a while. Even Smokey came in and watched with us.
Just about then Mom came home for something. She heard animals in the bedroom so came in to check it out. After she turned that box off, she went away shaking her head, muttering "I am over there working my butt off so these cats can lie in the warm bed and watch TV!!! Something is wrong with this picture!"
Hey, what does she think we are gonna do??? Mop the floors?? NOT!!

Hey, meet my BROTHER, Dijon!

My Mom is sooo nice! Today we were just hanging out and she went over to work to have lunch with Laurie. When she came back she brought MY BROTHER to live here with me!!
His name was Louie, but out of respect for Louie, the Frenchie Mom had who now lives with Nina in Maine, Mom changed his name to Dijon. There is no way Louie would appreciate having a cat named after him, MOL!
Anyway, we played for two hours solid!! After all that play we got a bit tired so I showed Dijon where the heater vents were and we found a comfy spot under a table right next to the big vent. Warm and toasty.
I can't believe how nice it is to have someone to snuggle with me again. I was using a stuffed poodle of Moms, but my own, living brother is sooo much nicer!! I guess he is happy about it, too, cuz he was having to snuggle with Hilda, of all things!!!
For those who don't know, Hilda is a very, very spoiled Frenchie that Mom owns and that lives at Laurie's house. Hilda spends her Summers and her vacations here so I have met her before. She also comes to work with Laurie. She is okay in a pinch, just like Ali is okay for me, in a pinch.
Anyway, I already showed Dijon where the litter box was and more importantly, where the food is, MOL! I suspect Mom will not make me sleep in that stupid cage tonight... sleeping with my bro is MUCH nicer!!
Welcome, Dijon!!!
