Birthday:
June 1st 2011

Coloration:
Gray and White

Dwells:

Arrival Story:
Joey was brought into our cat rescue with his brother and sister. Because he has the same mother as Smokey, we decided to bring him home to be a companion for Smokey. Sadly, Joey and his littermates are feral and, unlike Smokey, are a bit older so it will take longer for us to make him feel welcome in our family of dogs and Smokey. While Smokey was also feral, he was MUCH younger and easier to tame!

Bio:
We are currently not sure of Joey's sex as he is feral. Hopefully, in a short time he will decide this is not a bad place to live and come out of hiding so we can see him!

I made a serious mistake...

About a week ago it was really hot at night and Mom left the door open to the Summer kitchen. Soo, I joined Smokey and the kittens out there since it was a bit cooler than in my bedroom.
Well, in fact, it was quite a bit cooler so I made the mistake of falling asleep out there in one of those dog crates by the back door. In the morning, Mom opened the door and Smokey and the kittens raced inside. Not me, I was scared so I stayed where I was.
Next thing I knew, Mom opened the outside back door to go feed the chickens. I couldn't help myself, I zoomed right out and over the dog kennel fence.
Mom wasn't very happy, but she did have food and water out in the shed down there cuz she had let the old kitty from the kennel out for the Summer. She gives her wet food on the front porch every morning so she was hoping I would show up with her for my share.
Well, the WHOLE week went by and Mom didn't see me at all. She even went looking for me, scrounging around in the shed. I saw her, but I didn't let on, MOL. That night, I followed the old kitty over to the porch and Smokey was looking out the window and spied me.
He started Meowing to me, I answered him, and next thing I knew, Mom was peeking out the window, too. She came around to the door, quietly opened it, and invited me in. She even tried the laser light trick!
NOPE, NO WAY, NO THANKS!!! I will stay out here, thank you very much! While it was nice inside all Winter, I am an outside guy and I do not like spending my time hiding under the futon. Besides, it is pretty nice not having that Beanie and/or Toto chasing me!
Today I sat beside the shed while Mom was mowing the lawn. She came over to talk to me...I anwered but when she got close, I slid away. I happen to LIKE living out here in the shed!!!

I'm HOME!!!!!!

Hehehe... this morning Mom came into the cat room to check on me. I was sitting up on the bench in my crate and when I saw her, I meowed at her. Bravely, she opened the cage door and I rushed over and rubbed all over her.
That did it! Next thing I knew, I was in my carrier, heading home to MY house. I greeted my friends Smokey and Dijon and Paisley, and we are all happy again.
Except Mom... she says she slept really well last night without Beanie and/or Toto barking everytime I moved. Oh well... she'll get used to it, I am sure!

I was TRAPPED!!!!!

Yesterday morning Mom and Laurie took all the other cats over to work. I was pretty nervous hanging around here by myself, but everything else seemed pretty normal except I could not find any food anywhere except that one can which was in that metal trap.
I meowed and meowed and generally expressed my displeasure, but no one brought me any food. Mom did give me a few treats during the night but I was still kind of nervous about those strange tasting ones she gave me the other night so I declined them.
Finally, about 3 AM, everyone was soundly sleeping so I decided to venture into that metal thing to get some of that food since I was now STARVING!!! I no sooner got in there and reached for the food when there was a terrible B A N G, and the whole back door fell down and trapped ME inside.
Mom woke with a start, as did Toto and Beanie, and they barked and barked at me. By now I was so upset that I couldn't even EAT the stupid food! Would you believe Mom left me in there ALL NIGHT LONG???
First thing this morning she took me, in the trap, up the hill and left me there. I was so mad I had to hiss and spit and try to bite her fingers!!! Pretty soon someone came along and gave me a shot RIGHT THRU THE TRAP!!! Next thing, I was waking up in a cage over at Mom's work. I hurt all over, even my EAR was hurt and had a big notch cut out of it.
Gray Kitty, who was in the cage beside me at work, told me that ear notch pretty much means I am no longer going to be in the bedroom. WHAT????? Yup, she says in a few days when I am healed she and I are going out to that big barn attached to Mom's house. She says it's okay...there is plenty of food and water and beds out there and we can go sit in the sun whenever we want to.
She says she has been out there for NINE years so far, and she LOVES being out there. She goes down in the back yard and catches mousies all the time and she says it's fun. I dunno, it kind of sounds like my life before I came here. I did ask her why she was in the cat room if she stayed outside and she said she was very, very old now so she goes into that metal trap so she can come in for the Winter and be warm.
Maybe I will walk up to Mom and make her pick me up and bring me back into the house. Honestly, I think it's all Beanie and Toto's fault...they are the ones who always try to chase me whenever I hiss and spit and swat at them and that made Mom mad. She said I have had almost 5 months to learn not hiss and spit so much and to be friendly. Well, maybe I am anti social??? Yeah, maybe Toto and Beanie should go live in the barn???
