Mom was just reading the main page for us when she came across an article about cats and bathrooms. It asked "are they ( us cats) afraid we won't do our business right or afraid we will lose our owners to the water room? Personally, we all take shifts watching Mom and Guest, that way we don't all have to get up. Mom goes to the bathroom around here and it's like football, the closest and most alert kit yells "I got it".
Anyway, they mentioned cats being afraid of the flush. I'm not. Actually it's the opposite for me, I'm fascinated with the swirling water. Which are you? Afraid or Fascinated?
Definitely all fascinated here, except for maybe the little guy - he hasn't caught on to the mystery of the bathroom yet. :)
OMC i love watching the water swish and then disappear! mom has a picture of me too 'heehee' but she is kind enough not to put it on catster and embarrass me. the rest of my furs don't pay any attention to it but i'm always right there to watch.
I love to watch the water swirl, in my younger days Mom would call "come watch swirly" and I would come in and stand on my hind legs to watch the water go down.
I'm fascinated by the handle. I try to make it go swish, but don't have enough muscle. Mom often hears me jiggling the handle and says "oh , look out water bill, if he ever gets it"
Love the bathroom! I like to take my sparkly ball into the tub and swat it around. I like to watch Mom dry her hair (I like it when she fluffs my fur with the dryer, too). I like to watch Dad shave, though I can't imagine why he does that. Also I can count on him to leave his towel on the floor, which makes a soft spot for a nap.
I like to hide in the tub while the humans are on the toilet and then when they reach for the TP, I reach up and smacky paw them. I got Aunt Anita once, I scared her a good one! Good thing she was on the toilet! MOL!
I could care less about the toilet. I love the bathroom sink! I will lay in there, keeping a close watch on the humans when they are in the bathroom.
Bof me 'n Mallee like's da bafroom. When her goes, usually one o' us will follow 'n often use our bafroom's too. I don't care 'bout da swirley water but sometimes watch it flush, well Mallee IZ fascinated by dat flush 'n watchin' dat water~! sometimes I try to get into mom's pants when her ona toilet, hmmm, mom alwayz thought dat wuz kin'a funny. Mallee comes in a doez da leg rub 'n get's onto da baftub edge 'n bonks 'n nudges her arms 'n legs. Mom still hazta hide da toilet paper from Mallee. Sheesh~! yeppers our bafroom time'z r fun~!
Love that swirling water! No monsters in our house!
We're both FASCINATED!!
I thought the bathtub was supposed to get filled with a few inches of litter and she'd go in there.
But, yes, Tink & I fight in the bathroom over who gets to watch the flush!!
LUFF the bathroom. Me & Ingen & lil Bear all follow mama in, sumtimes tagether sumtimes on'y 2 & sumtimes on'y one. I like watch the water but mama a'ways put the top down so's I don' getsa watch it.
I almost always follow Mom to the bathroom. I'm rather indifferent to the flush - more interested in getting love from Mom!
MOL, that thing (human litter box) is so funny in the middle of the night (a couple of nights ago) the human heard a scratching porcelain sound and realised she had forgotten to put the seat down on the white can. MOL one wet furmum, MYTO (meow your tail off) she loves to sit on top of it. There is always a rule in the house the lid must stay down at all times or furmum will fall in.
OMC! What great answers so far!
Sky,that's an awesome fascination! I have a thing about opening cabinets.
Roni, your too funny.
Milo, Mom still has to hide the TP from Gris too. Just when she thanks it's safe to leave it out, well you know. I know a cat named Tweety that still chews on the TP and he's 9 years old.
Teebo, your just saying that to get catnip points with your Mom. MOL!
MR.D, Mom says falling in the toilet is the absolute worst!.
I tend to be the bathroom monitor to my Mom almost always. However when I know THE FLUSH is coming, I considerately leave the room, so that Mom can enjoy by herself. Heh!
I used to love love love to watch that water swish and turn and then disappear where did it go? ( my face just had that question on it) I also loved the tolit paper rolls and how easy they come apart.
All the other kitties still hang out with mom and Tiny took possesion of counter and her make up bag but no kitty pays much attention to the human litter box.
Mom once found me sitting on the edge of the human litter bowl looking in there and little boy was on the other side when she checked the bowl there was kitty throw up in there ummmmmmmm (how did she know that) so did I go there to throw up who will ever know but mom found it so strange that it was in there and little boy and I were both lookin in at it.
All of us are fascinated around here. Me and Charlie are big fans of that drinking bowl in the bathroom, we'll climb on in and drink. Unfortunately, the lids are usually down around here because of that. Maurice doesn't drink, but he likes to watch the water swirl.
I am facinated
unfortunately, i usually fall in!!!
I think the human litter box be fun. I like to drink the water, but Mom keeps closin' the lid. Not fair!
Bathrooms are the best place of all! I like drinking from the faucets - probably how I got my water in my bad days. I like sleeping in the sink and rolling around in the bathtub. Anytime a human is in there I gots ta check it out!
Well, how I see it is this. The box by the bed starts making noise, so Mom gets up. Just to make sure she gets up, the coffee pot wakes up, too. All we kitties begin to show up and meow so she doesn't forget that we get fed first! But, once she got selfish and decided to go to her litterbox first. We all ran in there and be meowing our protest. I jumped up on the back of the litter box and nipped her in the butt. Feed me now!
Linus, you goof ball! It takes us at least ten min. after the box beside the bed goes off, to get Mom to even get up. She's usually checking emails on her phone and watching the news. So I completely understand selfish Moms.
Milo, that is kind of a nasty habit...drinking the toilet bowl water. But I'm sure it's cool and fresh.
Bob, I hate you and any other cat has to go through bad days. But your right it probably does come from your survival days.
I don't care about the swirl either way...that's not part of my job. My job is to make sure no predators get mom while she's vulnerable, and to get all the loving I possibly can while she's a captive audience. I love the captive audience part. AND I AM THE BATHROOM CAT. Geesh- if one of these brothers tried to step on THAT territory fur would fly!!! And then I'd make mom feel guilty about it for a month. Mom thinks it's like quilting or canning for humans, one of those things that used to mean basic survival that is now just a hobby. Either way, it's mine. All mine. And I never fail.
Calista, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a bathroom monitor. And your right, maybe it part of our old survival skills showing.
Girl, you do need to lighten up on your brothers some.
You sound like mom telling me to lighten up on the bros... she worries I never will... Hey--at least I'm nice to the dogs.
