Arrival Story:
A friend of mine at work has cats and loves animals. When I told her I wanted one so started looking for the perfect cat for me. I told her I've always wanted an all black cat. A woman she knew was a volunteer at a rescue organization and just so happened to have a black cat, but he was mean. So Mom and I went to meet him and he hissed at us and scratched me. I felt to bad for him, he was so scared. He came home with us and within hours he was rubbing up against us and purring his head off. I named him Gary after Spongebob's pet snail.

Bio:
Gary was the King of the house. He loved to lay with my Mom on the recliner! I was away for graduate school for a year and him and Mom really bonded. When she would tell him no, he would run over to me and sit by me because he knew I would stick up for him. Although he was so big, he never knocked things over when he would walk around all the breakables! If he wanted something he would sit and meow in front of you until you followed him, if you didn't he would knock everything off the table until he got his way. When Dylan first arrived, Gary would officiate the wrestling matches between him and Bob, hissing if they got too out of control. Everyone in the house listened to Gary, the humans and the cats! He was my baby and I miss him! But, he left me with so many happy memories!

Mom and Mommom recently saw pictures of cats that were adopted by a man they see at work. They were so happy that he adopted these two cats who were brothers, but they were sad because they both looked exactly like me. They did have some white on their bellies, which I didn't have, but the rest of them is silky black like me and their eyes were even the same color. They didn't say anything at the time, but Mom came home and cried. They miss me so much! Since I know they miss me, I've been telling my brother Dylan to lay on the newspaper like I used to so they can feel like I'm still there with them.

When I went away to grad school, Gary and my Mom became best buddies. After work my Mom would eat and get changed then her and Gary would lay together on the recliner and watch tv. Although Gary was not much of a lap cat, he would lay diagonally across her with his rear in her lap and head almost on her shoulder. They were so cute together!

Another example of Gary's intelligence is that he loved to "read" the newspaper. Every Friday my Mom would throw out the old newspaper and tell Gary, don't worry we'll get it tomorrow. Then, Saturday she would go out and get the Sunday newspaper. We would come home and she would say, Gary, I picked up the newspaper for you. He would run over to the table and wait until she set it on the floor in front of the table. He would lay right on it and stare at it like he was reading the front page!!!
