I am 5 years old today! Human forgot until now *bonks Human* I'm going to make sure she gives me extra treats.

Toaster turned 5 a few weeks ago. We don't know her exact birthday. She got a cool cardboard box to play in.

Want to know something neat? has a sort of separate web site where they make a small donation to the charity of your choice every time you shop :) It's called Amazon Smile :) Lots of well known charities are listed as well as local charities in many areas, like food banks. We chose the local SPCA :)

If you already have a account you can use that to log into Amazon Smile. Details about Amazon Smile is here.

You have to use the Amazon Smile web site to make a purchase in order for your charity to get the donation. Using the regular web site doesn't work. So update your web browser's bookmarked link :)

Feel free to spread the word about Amazon Smile on FB, Twitter, and other social media thingies! Amazon doesn't make Smile very well known *shrugs* It's a great way to make a free donation to a charity every time you shop :) is another similar web site but you can shop at many major online retailers such as Macy's, Gap, Babies R Us, Dell, etc.

One year ago today...

... The 117th Boston Marathon was held under sunny skies and warm weather. Lots of people were enjoying watching the race. Then chaos ensued at the finish line when two bombs went off. Four days later more chaos ensued. In the end, after a long day of the city being in lock down, the suspect was captured and taken away.

Today there were lots of memorials to remember that day. The big library right at the finish line has a neat exhibit with all the stuff from the makeshift memorial that was set up in the days after the bombings.

Next Monday is the 118th Boston Marathon. Lots of secuity and restrictions will be in place to keep everyone safe. I hope crazy people stay far far away that day.

Catster staying? And other news

It looks like Catster might not be going away after all :-O :)

I guess we'll keep the new bb group for now just in case. We've tested it it out with some friends and it works pretty well. No fleas there :)

I have a new friend here on Catster :) His name is Mozart and he's an Aby, too. But the coolest thing about him is that he's also from Fairbanks Farm :) He was born way after I was and we don't have the same parents but it's neat to be friends with another Fairbanks Farm Aby :)

Mozart told me that the breeder of Fairbanks Farm passed away last year :( We haven't been in contact with the breeder in a long time so it was a shock to hear :( Mozart says that a person took the Abys and I guess is working with a rescue to find them new homes. Another person took the doggies (collies) to a big ranch in Colorado. I'm glad that the Abys and doggies were able to find a temporary new home until they find their forever homes.

We were able to find the archieved web site for Fairbanks Farm and had fun looking back at the pages, even though all of the pictures are gone now. I wish there was a way to see the pictures again. Pictures of my parents were on the web site.

New home for the bb group!

The Brusselball group has a new home! Here's a sneak peek at what it looks like: :)

We're still working out some kinks with the new home and adding neat smilies / emoticons in :)

As you can see from the sneak peek picture, the bb goup is only for playing bb in and for general playing. No community sections like health, diet, behavior, etc like the main Catster forum.

It looks like the Catster/Dogster-like Pets4Pals web site is officially open now :) Check it out!

Catster and how to cancel the Plus auto payment in PayPal

We're sad about the community part of Catster going away on March 3 :( Toaster and I have made lots of friends here.

Our Brusselball group will move to a new web site. We're just not sure where yet. We will post more info closer to March 3.

There's a bunch of cat forums posted in the comments section of the HQ announcement: Some are active, some are not.

The All Paws Bulletin group has talk about a web site where a new Catster-like community could be formed and about a person who is in talks with Say Media on moving the community to a private server.

For those who use PayPal to pay for yearly subscriptions, make sure to cancel the auto payment or you may get charged even long after Catster goes away :-O

Watch Dog posted info here:

1. Log into

2. Click on Profile.

3. On the left side of the page, select My Money.

4. In the "My preapproved payments" section, click on Update.

5. Look for "Say Media Inc". Click on the name.

6. Under "Status", click on Cancel.

There might be a box or something that asks you to confirm.

My cool new friend!

My newest Catster friend is Jacoby! He's better known as Stroller Cat :) Why? Because he's a frequent rider of the MBTA (Boston's transit system) in his cool stroller :) Jacoby is a certified therapy cat and travels to lots of places with his Human on the train. When he's not riding the train, Jacoby loves to walk around his Southie neighborhood on a leash.

Jacoby is an Aby like me :) He's ruddy colored and I'm red.

Jacoby has a neat blog that is updated daily. It has lots of pictures of him walking on a leash, in his stroller, and his family :) Check it out!

Yesterday I was a Daily Diary Pick :D Thank you to everyone who gave gifts and sent messages and pictures :)

It's been a week since the scary stuff happened. The city is slowly trying to get back to normal. Nothing will ever be the same, though.

We heard that the fund set up by the Governor and the Mayor to help victims and their families has reached over $20 million :-O That's a lot of money. If anyone is interested in making a donation, you can go to The One Fund web site.

There is another fund for the transit officer who was seriously injured last Thursday night. That fund is here. You can read more about the transit officer here.

We hope everyone who was injured last week recovers. Many will have a long road ahead of them as they go through rehab and other services.

We are one. We are strong. We are Boston. We are Boston strong.

This is our (expletive) city, and nobody is going to dictate our freedom. Stay strong.

The police caught the crazy bad Human!

We're ok

Scary stuff happened this week :-O First there was the bombings at the Boston Marathon near the finish line. Lots and lots of people were injured and 3 people were killed. Then last night more scary stuff happened :-O Two scary Humans tried to rob a store and then they killed a MIT police officer and then they stole a car and drove it to the town we live in :-O One bad Human was killed in a gunfight with police. The other bad Human is still on the loose :-O

Human tried to go to work this morning but a Human drove by to tell her what happened last night. All public transportation has been shut down. Human works a block from MIT where the scary stuff happened :-O Human called security at work to ask if the company was open and they said it was. Later the company sent out a robo-call to all employees saying the company was closed for the day.

Our town is completely locked down because the carzy bad Human is here somewhere. The police are looking in a specific area right now. We live on the other end of town but it's scary knowing that this is all happening here. We can see helicotpers in the distance over the search area and we can occasionally hear police sirens.

We hope the police find the crazy bad Human and put him in jail for a long time.

Latest local news on the situation:

Here is the official charity set up by the Govenor and Boston Mayor to help victims of the Marathon bombings if anyone is insterested in making a donation:
