OMG! Alex's mom here. I am freaking out! I went to the store to get some cat food. Came back and I'm trying to find Midnight and cannot find her. She doesn't go out at all, she's a tiny little thing. We've torn the house apart! Looked under every single piece of furniture, opened every single cabinet and closet, I am losing it. I can't imagine how she got out, I left the house really fast and I know she's quick sometimes but not that quick. She's an old lady now. Omg I am so freaking out! She's got heath issues and she's just a little tiny thing of 7 or less lbs.
Please purr hard! I hope she didn't crawl off somewhere to die and if she did, why can't I find her? She's not coming out or answering any of us. We can't imagine where she is. Oh god I'll never forgive myself if she got out somehow because of me.
Dear Alex's mom,
Please don't panic. This is easy to say, I know, but when we first moved here, and it's a tiny apartment, I was adept at finding the smallest spaces to crawl into.
I don't know why Midnight is hiding, but sometimes we do if we hear loud noises outside or just get nervous.
If we choose not to hear, we don't.
If you open a can of tuna, if she likes tuna, well, the sound of a can opener to some of us is a very special sound.
Can you do that? Open a can and see if she comes?
Has anyone else opened the door?
PS-if there are any empty boxes, please check becuase we have been known to find them and creep in.
Hang in there....Purring for Midnight
We are sending LOTS of purrs to you today!! Put her favorite food or treats in different places. When my kitty was lost I put tuna out because it has a strong smell, and he came out that way. I don't know if you have an attic - I know it's an old house, she could be in the eaves or little cracks in the house.
Stay calm, I know it's hard, but she'll either come out when she gets hungry, or she snuck away to spare you. We are praying really hard for your whole family. You are very overloaded and we know that your burden will be lightened. It's SO hard to have so many problems at once! You deserve better and we're praying for that. Luv, Tink & Snow
We are purrrring that you finds her! I am pretty sneaking in my hiding spots sometimes and have given Mommy a good scare-I like to hide in laundry now, especially if it's my color, and only my nose peeks out so Mommy doesn't see me right away. Hopefully Midnight is blending in! purrrrrs and bonks
I's callin on alla MY Angels to PLEASE LOOK FUR MIDNITE!!!
You all was there when I gots lost an look at me now. I's home, happy & healfy. COME ON ANGELS!!!
Me & Novi is purrin an Jen is purrayin fur Midnite.
The problem is my sister is a HUGE PIG! I can't understand how anyone can live like that. She's so disgusting. I have to clean Midnight's box because she wasn't even doing that. She has so much stuff downstairs it's crazy! We went down there and checked under every piece of furniture, under the bed, we went into the basement and looked but the door was completely shut to that part of the basement. I don't like her going in there because of the furnace and all of that. If she did crawl up into the eaves of something it'd be a shock because she's no spring chicken.
I usually give her Reglan for her vomiting but we decided to try Zofran today for the first time. I tripled checked the dose and I am now having all these thoughts going through my head that I did something to hurt her. My mom said before this she was eating like crazy and she looked GREAT. She even just went poop! We can tell, believe me. She can wake the dead with her smell. So where the heck did she go and why isn't she answering or coming out?
Considering Alex had reactions to just about every medication we tried with her, if something happened because of this medication that will be the last straw with me. I'll never forgive myself. Oh god, why is this happening? Please please please Midnight! Please be okay! We love you so much!
alex; the last time I was assumed missing I was found up on a curtain rod...the last time boomer was assumed missing he was practically IN the middle of the loveseat; a hole in the dust cover he squeezed thru; he came out when some fresh tuna was opened, I jumped down onto a table and that's how I was discovered...dont keep looking down and under, also look up and "in" and bring out midnight's favorite food....
I sincerely hope she is found
If she climbed UP something it'll be a shock to us and a miracle. She's never done that. Mom is even rechecking the dose she gave her and it's correct. I would think if she were having a bad reaction she would have had it within the hour of me giving it to her? ugh, I keep calling her. It's not like her not to come out. I'll go and try to open a can although I don't know if that will do anything. I'll try it.
I like to hide under the beds. Not just on the floor, but I pull out the lining and make a hammock for myself. Maybe she did that. I also learned how to open the closet doors and sometimes I go into the deepest, darkest corner of a closet when I want to be left alone. Still other times, Mom looks and looks and looks for me and can't find me. Then I'll sneak up behind her and give her a fright! I'm not telling where that hiding place is - she still doesn't know about that one.
I'm purring that Alex comes out of her hidey-hole soon so that you won't have a coniption!
Greyson (and mom, too)
Oops! I meant that I hope that Midnight is found soon! Sorry!
I FOUND HER! I FOUND HER!
by de frig eatin trout !
OMG! She gave me a heart attack. She has never done this before. She was inside my dad's drawer in his desk and I don't even know how she got in there or why. It's FULL of files and there's no room. The only reason I heard her is because I did like you guys said and brought a bag of dry to shake all over the place. She never even made a peep! It's a darned good thing I have hearing like a bat.
I told everyone to shush for a minute and I could hear her barely rustling somewhere. That's the ONLY place I didn't look because why would I? I opened it slightly and there she was. I opened it and she came flying out of there. I swear my heart zoomed out of my chest. Thanks everyone. Thanks once again for keeping me sane and for rounding up the POTP and the purrs. I would lose it if it weren't for all of you.
sheesh!!! I gave her kisses and told her she was a little "bleep" MOL.
MOL Tabbies. ugh. I am so relieved I can exhale now. She's so funny, she's just looking at us like "what in the heck were you thinking locking me in there? and now you can stop freaking out, I'm fine, no biggy". MOL
And you know something? I didn't have more than 3 hours sleep last night so I am not feeling too great and I thought I would pass out from exhaustion looking for her.
Meanwhile Finney and Lacey are mega zooming all over the house like mad. Completely oblivious to anything which is fine by me.
Never a dull moment in this house and I wish there were!!!!! MOL. I would be very happy to have plenty of dull moments. Oh the angels were looking out for her.
Alex,Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Inside drawers was one of my favorite places to go "missing".MOL I am happy you found her. Remember when you think we are missing or gone outside? Chances are 99.9% that we are inside hiding. We are very good at this.
Oh what a relieve! Mom was just thinking of suggestions on where to look! We're so glad she's been found! Thank goodness!!
That Midnight sure is sneaky--I like that in a senior kitty!
We're so glad Midnight was found! I've given my mom a few of those heart attacks, too. Moms need a good cardio workout now and then. Like Greyson, some of my hiding spots are still a secret. *giggles*
when I was a kitten, I climbed into the refrigerator when mom wasn't paying attention. She found me about 10 minutes later sitting in one of the door compartments.
So glad she is ok!
MOL what excitment around your house, I knew she was there and you would find her, us angels were making sure she was OK...
You know I did that one time, I am not a hider at all...Mom & Dad went someone where for several hours, they came back and Mom noticed I was no where to be seen...panic!!!!!!
Well Dad had opened his drawer under the bed, I climbed in, he closed it not knowing I was in the tiny crawl space behind the drawer...Mom did the same thing opener everything, checked every where, even outside...no Tallulah.....Then Mom said lets open everything and leave it open....finally Mom thought about getting a flashlight and look behind Dads drawers he doesn't always watch out for us...and there I was, I was meowing and not happy that I had to spend all that time locked in behind a drawer in the dark...so just a lesson us kitties do get behind and in drawers and they do get shut....
We are just glad Midnight was found and your Mom can relax!!!!
Hi Alfie, Nida, Artie, everybody! Oh my goodness, look at the cavalry that came to help! See I knew I should always turn to all of you for help. Mom was so bushed after that she went and took a nap. Finney and Lacey were snoozling her to make sure she slept. Then she went downstairs to give Midnight her pill and that little brat tried to run away, MOL. Mom was like "OOOOHHHHH NO you don't missy!". Everyone was laughing.
You all have great suggestions that now mom is going to remember. With Midnight being so tiny we don't know why she climbed up in there. what a weird thing for her to do. At least we thought it was, MOL. sheesh! Well at least everyone is laughing about it now and thank goodness nothing happened.
Mom just kept thinking "am I dreaming this? I'm so tired I can't remember if I'm awake." You guys are sure all adventurous too. At least now we KNOW! Alfie, you are so right. Mom really didn't think she got out but she was beside herself tearing the house up.
Alex loves to hide in my closet....Glad to hear that you found Midnight....What a scare you had....Thank goodness, you have great hearing..
Mom says this must have been her punishment for not going to the gym! MOL Mom is getting another shot in her back at the end of this month.
OMC! Just read all this!! St. Anthony needs to make some special blessings over you all! Midnight needs to be good to yur mom.
OH THANK CEILING CAT!!! MIDNITE IS FOUND!!! Alla MY ANGELS came frew 'gain.
Linus it was funny! Mom kept telling Midnight, "what a bad girl you are scaring us like that". And then in the same breath kissing her all over the place, mmmwwaaaaa mmmmwwaaaa mmwwaaaa. MOL Thank you Ingen my sweet furriend! Thank you everybody again, mom is relieved, relieved, relieved!
So so glad you found her.
OMC what a scare you had today! When Skittles was a kitten we lost her in the house. She crawled up a tiny opening under are kitchen cupboards and was in that tiny space between the cupboards and the floor. Skylar was the one that led us to her, by pawing at the cupboards.
Thanks Zoe. Skylar mom was trying not to panic but she was already so tired and she was so puzzled! But now she's got the picture, even a senior kitty still has some mischief up her sleeve like Artie said.
We just read this now. Thanks be to God and to all your friends purring and praying, Midnight is found!! Yay. Personally I like to sit in Mom's filing cabinet. The handle is broken and it's permanently open. There is plenty of room in there. Don't tell Mom but I have her 2011 taxes almost done.
Purrs and hugs
Oh Mom is also slacking on meeting her Gym guy. What is it with those humans? She said she'll go tomorrow. Right.
Hi Mietzi. Wow you do taxes? You should charge money for that.
OMC! That would have been way to scary!
So happy that she came out and got discovered...PHEW!!
Now go and tell your mom to go and make herself some tea...to help calm her frazzled nerves!
Oh man, thank goodness. My mom just got scared for you. We have all had those weird hiding moments. One time I was curled up on top of these old records in a shelf at my grandparents old house. I was really smushed in there, too. Glad Midnight is safe. :)
YAY!!! So glad to read Midnight was found. Maybe something scared her while your mom was gone & she went into deep hiding? We are all so glad she is fine.
Tristan & family
So glad you found Midnight!!! :)
Hi everyone! Mom was funny this morning when she went downstairs to give Middy her pills. Midnight was cuddled up on the bed with grammy and grampy and mommy said "oh good! I don't have to have a scavenger hunt for you!" Then grammy said, "I had a talk with her this morning and told her it wasn't nice!" MOL. Boy I'll tell ya, that was scary. Finney and Lacey are just too big to be squished really tight into anything that mom couldn't find them in. At least I think so. Thanks again Bella and everyone for your support and great ideas on how to find her. That really kept mom calm and really that's why she was able to find her. Because of your ideas.
We can't go away and not log in for a few days..
We are glad that Midnight is found and okay!
MOL, Hi Biggly wiggly. She's doing great now the little brat. MOL. We just have to keep an eye on her as she's suddenly decided to get mischievous. Which I suppose is a good thing, she feels good enough to cause trouble.
sheesh same thing - we miss everything when we are gone! I have that happen with Tigger sometimes, and being that he has HCM I sometimes freak out & think the worst that I will find him.....well I am not gonna even say it. I try to "think like a cat" & look for the off the wall spots, and then I turn around & he is on the couch looking at me like "what?"
Oh it's okay Tigger, everything is fine now. And we have been MIA for a few days now too. Mom has been trying to get some work on the site done and then today she's not feeling so hot. But Middy did the same thing. She was actually looking at us like "why the heck did you lock me in there?" sheesh! Little stinker!
Glad everything is good now. I was lost for about 10 minutes once and Mom and Dad were freaking out!!!! It is so scary, but I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about either!! Glad Midnight is found and everyone's hearts are back in their chests.
