Hi everyone, don't know who'll see this, it's so dead here this week. But I wanted to give an update on my mommy. Still not doing too well although she's better than yesterday. She was in pretty bad pain this week and yesterday was so awful she called her regular primary doc and they took her in the afternoon. She got more medicine for the inflammation, and some muscle relaxants. She has not been able to sleep all week because the throbbing in her back and now her legs and knees were so bad, it was keeping her awake. The pain was pretty intense. As some of you know, she has fibromyalgia and suffers from chronic migraines. So pain is nothing new and she's pretty used to it. She's no wimp about it. But this is different.
Mommy had a car accident when she was 18. An old man went through a red light and hit her broadside. They think that's a good portion of how the fibro started but can't be sure. Anyways, she was 18 then and now she's 46 so the difference in healing time and pain tolerance obviously is different. She's been really depressed, this is the time of year when she can go out in her garden and start getting it ready for next year. She has all these projects to do. And it's NOT that she feels she has to do them, it's that she LIKES to do them. It's her therapy and now she can't.
But anyways, the doc did some neurological tests on her and the good news is that it's all spasm related and no damage so that's good. She's gonna go to physical therapy hopefully starting this week. She's not happy about that as her insurance will only pay for so much of it. So on top of trying to get a new mattress now, she'll be paying off doctor/hospital and now PT bills for the next year.
We miss her a lot. She can't play with us, she's always sad and looks like she's cringing all the time. She's trying to spend time with us and we're trying to give her a lot of love and patience. We've been good the last few days. So anyways, that's the scoop. If we're not around or we don't answer pawmails or emails right away please know it's because mommy is taking naps and trying not to stay in the same position for too long.
On a happier note, our really good friends samhain & Sleeper are having a birthday party in their diary this Tuesday! They are new to giving parties so please stop by and give them some wonderful birthday wishes and have some fun with everybody! It looks like a great pawty theme as well! The setting will be at the Maharaj’s palace in Katni, India. We'll be there, hopefully for a bit but we'll at least stop in. This time we don't have to do the cleaning up!! Whoo hoo! MOL.
Oh and we have some new pictures up: This is of Mommy's garden this summer, and these are some new ones of us. Some of those are already here on Catster but you can look at all of them if you'd like. Finney & Lacey.
Hope you're all having a good weekend! Luv you guys and miss everybody!
Luv Lacey & Finney
You two have fun, and take good care of momma!!
We gonna drop in ona pawty fur a minute. We's moofin the nex' day so can' stay long, but jus gotsta cuz is their furs' pawty.
Is gonna be Novi furs' pawty since he been here too.
I hope yer mama feels better soon. Her back been hurtin fur long time an is no fun when youse hurtin.
Ingen! What an adventure! I sure hope your mommy keeps in touch wiff us on the road and lets us know how it's going! Blizz aren't you going to stop by their pawty and say hi?
As long as it isn't too late. You know daddy is so busy, it's not funny!!Been leaving at 3AM..sometimes earlier!!! Let a fur sleep, will ya!!
Lacey - it is so nice of your Mommy to type for you when she's hurting so much! We really hope the spasms settle down soon, and give her some rest. And thank you for telling furs about our BD party! Blizz, we will send you a p-mail to get your thoughts on time.
Your poor mommy. Back pain is no fun. Chronic pain isn't either. Mama went through a time years ago when they couldn't figure out what was wrong with her and thought she had fibromyalgia too. Eventually they figured out the cause of her pain and she had surgery to correct it. She still has a lot of pain and arthritis because of her carpal tunnel but she will always have that. She also says that Emily, Trinity and I cause her a lot of pain in the butt and the wallet (whatever that means!)
I'm sure you and Finney are taking good care of mommy. Hopefully she'll feel better soon and be able to to the things that she loves the most like working in her garden and playing with you two. Tell her we miss her too and hope the meds and the PT help her to get rid of the spasms.
Love & hugs,
Hi Sally sweetheart! Yeah, it really bums us out to see mommy like this. She just now tried for a little bit to play and YEOWCH! She decided to put some MJ on and listen to some good music so me and Lacey can play together and it'll cheer her up. MOL, pain in the butt and wallet. Yeah, we get that too a lot!
You're welcome Sleeper! Hope you get lots of furs coming but usually announcing it days in advance and again the day before works great. Oh Blizz, that's terrible! No wonder your daddy is always tired.
bees this way til halloween...then he can relax.
Oh, Lacey - I forgot to tell you that we looked at your garden pics and those of you and Finney. The Mama thinks the garden is lovely - she's a plant person herself, but this season she was held up by a bunch of stuff, and the garden got out of control. She just gave up for this season - makes her sad. She'll still go out and get the garlic planted eventually in the vegie beds, though.
I personally liked the pic of you inside the tent with the laser eyes - MOL!
Thank you Sleeper! Yeah, mom's favorite thing is her garden and it's depressing her she can't get out there. She just went outside to look around and you know that big Hydrangea tree with the big white poofs of flowers? Some bozo came and cut one of them off! And not one that was on the bottom either, one of the big ones sticking up! Oh man does that make mommy mad. How rude!!
we have a big dead tree that is on our lot. and our neighbor was complaining that it was going fall on their lot. which i highly doubt it would have. so our neighbor offered to pay for a tree service come out and chop the tree down. so our neighbor had them come one time. and then he never had them come again. so now we stuck with a half chopped down tree in our yard and huge logs. our neighbor keeps promising he will have tree serivce come back to get rid of the rest of it. and he never does have tree sercive come back.
Both of those stories really tick me off! And we know about the problem with the huge logs - they are AMAZINGLY HEAVY. You imagine rolling them away - impossible!
Sorry about your Mom's hydrangea - were they cutting them for the flowers, do you think? Those make the best dried flowers, too, you probably know.
Sorry that your Mommy is still feeling all that pain and misery.
We do hope that with all of the POTP, pawyers and purrings...along with the meds that she will soon feel a lot better.
The slide shows were wonderfur to watch.
Beautifur garden, by the way...meowmy said it made her jealous!
Ours is not nearly as pretty, but then meowmy herself doesn't like gardening work too much...MOL!
Keep on being good kitty nurses, Lacey and Finney!
Pipo & Minko
Yes Sleeper, it was only one of the giant blooms that was cut off! And I agree, Nellie's neighbor ticks me off too. What is with people? Big jerks. This lady used to let her dog pee on my mom's shrubs. Then one night she did it right in front of mom while she was outside watering. Mom was like "uh, hello?" She said, "oh it's only pee." And mom said "well guess what pee has in it? Ammonia! And I already had to throw out 2 shrubs because of dogs peeing on them so stop it!"
Thanks Pipo & Minko. Slow but sure. Mom's been able to take less pain meds today so lets hope that keeps up.
Meanwhile she wasn't hurting enough to steal my toenails and clip some knots off of Finney! Hmmpffftt
Sending your momma purrs!
Gys take care of your Mom. And don't let her over do it. She needs to rest her back! Mom says Lisa I love you and cool it. Not everything has to be done right now. But, I understand, I have OCD when it comes to getting things done too. If you settle down just for awhile maybe it will heal and you won't injurer yourself latter.
Jen have her laptop 'puter an she telled Novi daddy we's gonna write to him an he sayed he'd keep efurone updated on our 'venture.
Hopefurly will on'y be fur few days.
Sorry to hear your Mom can't do her gardening. Our Mom likes gardening too! Mom has had a sore back this week too, so she can sympathize... but its not nearly as bad as your case. Either way it is frustrating not being able to do your regular things.
We hope your Mom gets better soon so that she can play with you guys and get back to her gardening.
Hey Zach, my momma says tell your momma, it takes one to know one! MOL. OCD I mean. Ingen it'll take you more than just a few days sweetie. My mom drove cross country when she turned 30 and there's AAA LLOOOOTTTTT of nothing out there. For you probably it'll take around 4 days or so. For my mom it was a lot longer because she drove to Florida first and then to California. Thanks Blade! We appreciate it. And yes, mom says it's super frustrating. But she's trying to be good.
So sorry about your mama. My mam hurt her back a few weeks ago while working out. She can't run for awhile, and it makes her sad because that's her therapy-- so she knows how your mama feels about missing out on her favorite activities. We hope she feels better soon, and we're purring for her.
Hunter that stinks! Tell your momma we're sorry for her hurt back too. They can both commiserate together about it! MOL. Gardening is my mom's therapy in a big way and it's driving her nuts not to get out there. Plus she usually walks at least a mile or two about 3 to 4 times per week and her knees are hurting as much as her back from the strain. So that's also making her crazy.
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry your mom's back is still so painful. Boy, that must be frustrating not to be able to go outside into her beautiful garden or play with you and Finney. We went and looked at the photos she sent through her newsletter ~ such lovely flowers and plants. Purrs that the physical therapy and new mattress help. Samhain and Sleeper's party should be good...
She tried again today Gumpy and she knew she couldn't do it so she gave up and came inside. Bummed out too! All she did was put clean water in the birdbath with the hose and water a couple of plants in baskets. It wasn't as painful as it has been but still not good enough to try and push it. She's being smart this time.
Gumpy how come you aren't around anymore? Don't you love me anymore?
You're silly. Of course I loves my Lacey girl! Momma has just gotten busier (and got sick last week) lately so we end up missing some stuff. I hope you understand...Sorry we can't be around all the time.
My mom has had back problems a couple times and it's very debilitating and awful not to be able to do what you normally do. More purrs for your mom!
yes of course we understand Gumpy. Just checking. You don't have to be around all the time sweetie! We aren't. Is your mom feeling better with her ulcer? I hope so. My mom had colitis when she was 5 years old and was in the hospital for 3 months! My grammy has colitis too.
Dear Lacey. We are so sorry that your Mom isn't feeling well. Please tell her to take lots of breaks from Catster and NOT to sit in front of the puter too much. That's not good for her aching back. She needs to take care of herself. All this catster stuff can get too much sometimes.
Thank you for posting the pictures of your Mom's garden. She has some lovely flowers. I would love to roam in her garden so much. I love to go outside but people here just have some shrubs and not many flowers at all. I especially like the birds in your garden.
Your Mom and ours are almost the same age. Ours is a little bit younger. Take care. We'll be praying for your Mom. Hope physical therapy will help her alot.
Mietzi and Timo
Hi Mietzi! Thank you so much, I'll tell her. "Mom, you hear that?" MOL. We haven't been on the puper much this week. She's been good. Although she can't do much of anything else either. Mom put up some new kinds of birdseed and feeders this summer and now we have even better birds than before. So me and Finney sit there at the windows and chatter all day. MOL
Yeah, that was from ME!!
Squirrels make funny noises huh? They bug the heck out of mom when they're in all the trees here and doing that. It's funny how they swing their tail all over the place. I wonder if they're having an argument or courting?
Yup, mom knows what those kinds of "I'm going to die" tummy aches are like. She still has tummy problems and always will.
Hi Lacey so sorry your mom is going through this, mom has never had to deal with it Thank God but she has seen grandma with back pain and almost as bad as the pain is the need and desire to do things she cannot do it makes mom sad for her, but grandma's comes and goes I hope your mom's goes real soon.,
Squirrels?! Don't talk about squirrels to us - we hates 'em! They sit up in the walnut tree by our cattery and yell names at us and throw walnuts at us now that they're ripe! They're as bad as stoopid burds! And they don't do they're job very well either, 'cause the Mama said there were nuts all over the ground when she was out there!
My momma hates squirrels big time too Samhain. They dig her garden up, stick nuts in the holes, then they don't cover it at all. They leave her plant roots exposed and sometimes they destroyed the plant so mom has to throw it out! Then in the spring, they don't remember at all where they stuck those nuts and they dig the whole place up! Mom HATES them!
My Mama could almost wish ours wouldn't cover the walnuts up, but they do. And then in the Spring, they sprout! We've got little walnut saplings all over the place - MOL!!! Oh, yeah - and that's 'cause the silly little tree rats DO forget where they buried them!
Oh believe me, mom digs up Walnut saplings all the time in spring. Did you know that the roots of a walnut tree are toxic to the plants around it? Yup, most of the time you can't grow anything around a certain perimeter of the walnut tree because it'll kill it.
Oh yeah - been there, done that, got the trowel!
Sending lots of hugs and purrs to your Mom. You will have to work even harder to keep her spirits up during this difficult time (good thing we're all really good at that!).
Thanks Callie! We're certainly trying.
Awww Lacey-We are so sorry your Mommy is sick and not playin, but this is time fur you guys ta be Nurse Kitties! When Mommy would be sick, Indy and I took turns and always were on either side fur her ta has cuddle warmths-She'll be able to play soon! That pawty sounds cool! Hope you had lots and lots of fun!
Kitty Pryde - the party hasn't happened yet, and you're invited if you'd like to come! The Tabbies will be catering, of course, so there'll be food enough to feed 3,555,439,705,211,032,531 kitties and a stray doggie or two, I'm sure! (though personally I hope no doggies are coming...)It's at my diary tomorrow - check out my reminder notice that's posted today!
Samhain guess what!!! Mom just went to take the garbage outside and caught a squirrel red handed digging up her garden and trying to stick a nut in the ground. She took the nut and threw it at him, MOL MOL MOL. They don't get scared off easily. And don't worry, she didn't hurt him. She's had to use the hose on them before just to get them out of the yard. They love it, they just sit there and look at her like "yeah right. keep trying." MOL
Thanks Kitty P! We're certainly trying!
Thanks fur the invite! Yay! Mommy doesn't know what she was reading! Lacey-when Mommy went ta college, there were tha squirrels known as the crazy Brooklyn College squirrels and they used ta eat candy from students and even hang from their tails from the low tree branches to the small pond ta get waters without leaving the tree!
