Stinky Slithering Snake

So I was outside in the yard, walking on the leash, when my mom said, "look Toki! A snake!"
It was a garter snake, about 18-20 inches long. I've seen dead snakes before, and I paid no attention to them, so mom didn't expect me to get so into this one. But as soon as this snake started slithering, I went to work. Pawing and biting, I grabbed that snake up in my mouth and started strutting around. Mom started saying, "Toki, don't kill it" but I was too involved in my battle with the snake to pay attention. Mom tried lifting me up, but the snake was still slithering around in my mouth, so she put me back down. Finally I let it go (just so I could play some more) and mom dragged me away. I was meowing and meowing, "I wasn't finished! Let me at 'im!" The snake had some blood on him and he was laying still in the sunshine. I was still struggling and meowing, so mom had to carry me inside.
Suddenly, mom noticed the smell. "Eew! Toki! You stink!" she said. Apparently, garter snakes let out some kind of gross stinky secretion when they are being attacked, and I had it all over me. I started grooming, but mom couldn't stand it.
I had to have a bath. I got a shampoo and mom was extra thorough rinsing me off. I don't mind baths, but I think my mom went kind of overboard with her effort this time. That stink was pretty gross though. Ick! At least I know I vanquished that dragon, I mean SNAKE.

Oh oh - YES!!! I LOVE to catch snakes!!!!!!! The Mama always tries to get them away from me before I can kill them; she says they are good for the garden 'cause they eat the rodents and some insects. Plus she just thinks snakes are kinda cool. :) They PEE on you, though, and it DOES stink! MOL!

Mom had no idea about that stink until after we got inside. She googled it to find out why I stunk so bad- hehe. Mom kinda likes snakes too. She would much rather have a snake around than insects.

Good job taking down the dragon! Still slithering around in your mouth ~ yahoo! Ewwww about that stinky secretion!

Couldn't see the tongue, but he had his mouth open. Mom said he had a cute face, can you believe it?
That secretion was REALLY stinky. I'm glad the shampoo got rid of it. I smell terrific now. ;)

Those snakes can give nasty bites if you grab it with careless abandon, noit from poison, but from their icky germs...and you bet they give off stinky pee...or whatevfur it is..dog guy will do the same as you to them, and when meowmy tries to rescue them from his jaws, OMC! They let loose! UGH!
Well, dog guy thinks it is the best thing evfur to roll in...then he comes inside, and Phew! We all keel over, MOL!

wow that snake sounds like it was so much fun, the most I ever caught was lizzards and I love catching them but mom and dad do not let me kill them either and they make me take them back outside. some reason they do not like it when I bring them in the house IDK

Snakes that furt? YUCKH! I'm also in luv with preying amphibians! They're really fun to catch and pawlay with. Concatz on killing it, dood! Sorry that u's had to bathe.

I am truly impressed Toki! What a brave hunter you are. Uggg, didn't know garter snakes were stinky. The only critter I've ever hunted is a blue-tail lizzard.

Hunting lizards sounds cool! Unless they stink too. Hey, I think the snake lived after all- because it was gone from the lawn the next day.

dOOD,lizards are catrazy fun to pawlay with!! Espawcially the little ones climbing the walls!! OH. MY. Meez totally lubbs them and spends most of the day trying to catch them. Catching them it quite impawsseaball as i cant climb walls. so meez CRIES!!
