   Leave a treat for Umesaburo

Ume-chan, Ume. His name is pronounced "Oo-may-sa-boo-ro"; Ume means plum or plum blossom in Japanese.

Kitty Complexion:
sleepyvery active
not curiousvery curious
not vocalvery vocal

Quick Bio:

Brown Tabby

Right now, he just wants to get out of his cage (which is quite large, but obviously not as large as a room). Also, he's the only one of my cats who covers his doo doo. He likes to make a big mound of the kitty litter with a doo doo surprise inside.

Being in a cage. Not getting a snack of canned food in the evening.

Favorite Toy:
He seems to favor wand toys.

Favorite Nap Spot:
He doesn't have a choice right now. On one of the shelves of the cage.

Favorite Food:
Like the other cats, he vacuums up that mercury-tainted tuna-flavored canned food that has no nutritional value whatsoever.

Making babies. Both he and my queens are all the products of big litters (he was one of eight kittens himself), and so far he's produced litters of 6-7 kittens each.

Arrival Story:
Umesaburo was my breeder's stud cat. When my breeder retired from breeding, he sold me Umesaburo and Elise. Umesaburo is the father of Leila and Chibi's litters, which means that he is the father of Currier. He is the father of Elise as well. (Don't worry, there's no inbreeding going on here.) He's a laid-back and good-natured boy, despite the fact that he looks like a thug. Unusual for an intact male, he doesn't spray. Right now he's caged, but I mean to let him have his own room in the future. (Obviously an intact male can't be allowed to hang out with four intact females.) I WOULD have gotten him for free, because I was engaged to my breeder, but I called off the engagement and opted to pay for Umesaburo instead. Tee hee.

Umesaburo is a Champion with the CFA. I'm not sure whether or not to try to make him a Grand Champion. Brown tabbies are pretty common, and Umesaburo is not such a spectacular cat. He has a nicely scooped nose line and a manly muzzle, points which are important to judges, and he's built like a truck--he's only 6.7 kg, but has an extremely big-boned build. However, his tail isn't as long and fluffy as it could be, and his hindquarters don't seem to be in proportion to the rest of his frame. Also, one eye is shaped differently from the other. Nevertheless, his plusses counteract my own queens' minuses, and he's produced some very nice kittens, including Elise. The only problem is that he's the father of both Currier and Elise, so I have to buy or rent another stud when it's time to breed them. He's a very friendly boy, and I look forward to the day when I can retire him from breeding (at around age 5), neuter him, and allow him to mingle freely with the other cats. The only cat who seems to actively dislike him is poor Spike.
