Black and White

Tail bone Scratches

She didn't have any. She was afraid when people came in the front door though.

Favorite Toy:
Plastic mice with a real fur feel to them...rattles inside were best.

Favorite Nap Spot:
She loved to nap in the windowsill with the sun heating up her black fur

Favorite Food:
Tuna fish and Cheese...not necessarily together.

Princess was an expert bug catcher. She knew how to sit, beg, lay, and stay on command for treats. She was fairly good at fetch.

Arrival Story:
We were young and just convince our parents to get us a cat. We went to the Animal Welfare League to pick out a kitten. My youngest sister Julie was under the age of 7 because of this we were told that we had to pick out a 6-month or older cat. My Mom didn't want an older cat she wanted a kitten. She said older cats are already set in their ways and they are harder to train. So, we went to a small pet shop that has since closed down. They never got their animals from Puppy mill type breeders. They rarely had animals but when they had animals they came mostly from neighborhood accidents that hadn't found homes yet. Princess was the only cat they had at the time. She was a couple months old and we were charged $30 for her. We quickly brought her to our Aunt Tina's house to show her off. There we though up a name. Mom wanted to name her Sylvester because she looked like Sylvester from the WB show with Tweety Bird. Princess was a girl so Mom was voted out. Next Mom wanted to name her Checker because of her black square box on her white chin but that was out voted. One of us said the name Princess and we all loved that name. I gave her the middle name Aurora because it was a beautiful name that meant Dawn. She truly lived up to her name because she was the sunshine of our lives.

Princess Aurora was very soft spoken even from the beginning. She would meow so softly it was barely noticeable. Even when she hissed at someone or something it was just a trace over silent. She was very sweet and loveable. Princess was the only cat out of our three cats we had growing up that would come to your rescue when you were sad and crying. She would come up to you and give you a soft meow that was practically the sound of a chirp and nuzzle you until you had no choice but to take her into your arms and nuzzle her. She would let you bury your face in her fur and sob. She never complained. Princess loved attention when you were busy with your homework or on the phone. She really was the one to teach us bad study skills because you could never sit long alone with out her jumping in your lap for an improv scratch session. Her favorite place to be scratched was on her tailbone. She was the best friend a girl could have.

Heidi found her family. They came to pick her up Sunday night! Her real name is Cookie that's why she answered to Heidi. The "Y" sound is very pronounced in both. Her Mate Fonzi is still missing. So anyone in Chicagoland if you come accross a black and red male GSD let us know.

I'll be searching from above. You know with these wings I've got a pretty good view up here!

During the Snow Storm Today I found a Female GSD near Harpo Studios -The Oprah Show. Specifically 2 blocks down at Carpenter and Lake.
She is a black & Tan - slightly grizzled but NOT sable. Wearing a Collar with no tags. I drove for an hour and a half through the traffic caused by the storm to my house and during that time I called out every name I could think of. I got no reaction to any name except Heidi - she picked up her head and moved toward the driver's seat from the back of my SUV for a head scratch. So, that's what I've been calling her.

The vet said she is at least 3 years old and she does not have a micro chip.

I'm told she's looks like she's been out for over a week.

She is dog friendly and cat friendly because I have 3 German Shepherd Dogs and a cat and she reacted well to seeing all of them.
She is very sweet and curious. If we lived in a city that didn't have a pet limit we might be considering keeping her if her owners are not found. But unfortunately this cannot be the case. So we need to find he owners ASAP or we'll have to turn her over to someone.

Here are some Photos posted on the Craigslist advertisement that we took really quickly before giving her the bath. She looks a little nervous in them but she's not a nervous dog. She was very curious and couldn't stop sniffing and investigating to take a good photo. We know her family is searching for her.

Sending Snowflakes

I know my family loves snow so I send it every chance I get so they can play in it.
Sometimes it comes down as snow and sometimes it comes down as rain. I have no control over the weather temperature.
Today it came down as snow then the weather got warm and it melted just to freeze as ice.
I saw my Mom slip and "whoa whoa whoa" in voice and with arms circling in the air. She almost fell.
Luckily she caught herself. I wonder if she still wants snow? She loves it but the ice is so bad and thick on the ground right now.
