The San Diego Humane Society has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help Ukrainian refugees fleeing with their pets. Ukrainian pets are being held back when their owners cross into the United States at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The SDHS is working with the CDC and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to arrange the transport, treatment and quarantine of Ukrainian pets as needed so pets can be safely reunited with their Ukrainian families.

“Pets are family, and families should never be forced apart,” says SDHS president and CEO Dr. Gary Weitzman in a statement.
