Pet-Peeves: People who don't share their food, being held, dieting, those big clear things in front of the squirrels, K.P., the fact that "brother" Nick is twice his size (this doesn't bode well for ambushing), being ignored, the vet, toilets with lids, Thomas.
Favorite Toy: The big plastic ball that lights up and makes loud, obnoxious bird noises. Especially when it's 4 am and everyone happens to be sleeping.
Favorite Nap Spot: The third shelf on the cat tree, Alex's bed, piles of clean laundry (especially when shedding profusely).
Favorite Food: Shrimp and smoked salmon.. this cat snacks better than I do.
Skills: Mad feline soccer skills, talented wall climber. Also responds to several verbal commands, including "sit", "no", "here, Tyson!", "the toilet is not a water fountain!", and "what on earth is that thing in your.. oh my god, rank! Spit it out, spit it out!"

indoors
Arrival Story: We were attempting to trap one injured feral (Thomas), and wound up catching this one instead. By the time he was socialized enough to start thinking about adoption, Kitty #1 (Nick) and I had fallen in love, and Tyson was here to stay.

I've Been On Catster Since:
On Friday, 4/27, Tyson's bloodwork showed renal values within the normal range for the first time since he was sickened by tainted food associated with the Menu recall last month.
(Actually, the BUN was *just* outside the normal range, but since there are many different factors that can affect the BUN, and the creatinine's a far better determinant of actual renal function, I'm still going to brand this his first normal bloodwork since 3/17.)
Tyson remains on SQ fluids (once a day every other day), but his vet is hopeful that he will eventually be able to be weaned off of them altogether.
Tyson is currently being treated for renal failure following the consumption of a small quantity (three pouches) of recalled food. The prognosis is uncertain at this time- Tyson appears otherwise normal (eating/drinking normally, playful, active, alert, no more vomiting, etc.) but bloodwork has revealed that his renal values have continued to rise despite aggressive SQ fluid treatment over the weekend. (This is not a good sign.) He is now at the vet receiving IV therapy.
Nicholas, who ingested a single pouch of affected food but refused further feedings of the tainted stuff, was found to have normal kidney function. (Thank goodness!)
Alex ate a very small quantity before refusing the food, and appears do be doing well. Her vet does not feel at the moment that it is necessary to subject her to bloodwork.
If you feed canned food items of a chunks-and-gravy nature, please be sure to check- and continue checking, as the brands and lots being implicated continue to increase- the recall list posted at http://www.menufoods.com/recall !
