My Good vet

I've been raving about my Good vet since we met her in April. Old school Alex will agree that she is more than just super cool. Yesterday, we were reminded in a new way of why she is in our lives...

She lives in the mountains and her whole family including furry ones had to be evacuated due to fire danger two days ago. I didn't think we were going to see her yesterday for our appointment, but there she was at our doorstep with needles at the ready!

How special am I that my Good vet is here for me -- wow this tops all that mailman through sleet and snow stuff -- mol she walks through fire!

How cool is she that despite all her stuff being up in the air, her home in danger, and her family temporarily housed out all over town, she still takes the time to come over and poke me with needles!

I could see Meowkai getting misty-eyed yesterday mol. Someone was looking out for us when we met her.

Please efurrybody send my Good vet your alohas, so her family and home and friends are all saved from the brush fires.

The rosette that made me poop...

I was catstipated for over a week last week & my folks were getting concerned again. Suddenly, we received a catster rosette from old school Alex, then poof, right after my walk (that very same day!)... I pooped! Missed the litterbox altogether, but I could swear meowkai couldn't be any happier.

Headbonks to Alex!!! Thank you for being my pal!

Quality time

It's been over six interesting weeks now since I almost got sent over the bridge (phew). Many many catster friends have helped me and my ohana through figuring this out. Thanks to all of you and to my Good vet, we are settling into a regular routine & are learning plenty.

As promised to some of you, my meownagement update is posted here. Our latest questions are regarding boosting red blood cell and protein levels, and anyone's thoughts on procrit considering my crf-fiv condition.

My revised daily diet and routine since April includes:

-daily subqs
-twice daily famotodine, lactulose
-frequent feedings of bga-laced, nutritional yeast-topped hills kd chicken (my fave!)
-regular outside time
-weekly catcupuncture & vet hugs from my Good vet

Two weeks ago my Good vet brought a friend who helped her take my blood for the first time since early April. I'm waiting for them to come give it back, but they're taking their time...

My Good vet says that my bun, creatinine, and phosphorus numbers have improved, but that the latest thing giving her concern is my protein & rbc levels. She's not sure if the rbc levels are due to possibly suppressed bone marrow (from my fiv) or what, but that we need to get some quality protein in me. My amended diet now includes:

-any high quality protein i'd eat (yay chicken liver!!)
-pinches of prozyme with every meal
-possible procrit (Meowkai is nervous & not sure about side-effects)

Meowkai & Mehh only want me to be comfy and happy, so the numbers are 2ndary to my stokedness. We are learning to balance my crf needs with my fiv needs, so we're hanging on through this learning process. Lately I'm just regularly constipated & I puke a dollop about once a week for good measure.

For my number-cruching buddies, here's some data (only the numbers with significant changes are shown here for now):
