Arrival Story:
Visited West Los Angeles Animal Shelter (Pound) looking for an orange kitty as we had recently lost a tabby and didn't want to be reminded of loss. Grumpy looking silver tabby with blue eyes (at the time) relentlessly stalked us as we walked by the long cage of potential adoptees. Didn't so much mew as quack, so fervent was his plea that his little kitten voice was strained. Turned back on cage and felt little claw reaching through bars, then piercing and tugging at fabric on back of shirt... we had been chosen. Informed guard at shelter that choice had been made. As the door to the cage was opened all the other cats remained in abeyance as our kitty stepped onto the edges of the door-mounted water dish and leapt onto our shoulders, quacking and purring.

Bio:
When we first got Henry we had to board him for three weeks at our vet's office as he underwent innoculation and boosters against feline leukemia. Our other cat at the time (Deborah - R.I.P) had the disease. We hated to leave our tiny, adorable charge in a cage and his dad would take long lunch breaks and visit the little guy. Turns out he became very popular amongst the employees and technicians at the vet's office and they couldn't resist playing with him. When we finally came to pick him up he was bid a fond adieu by the staff and one of the technicians appeared to have tears in his eyes as he watched his new pal going home. Whenever we took him back to the vet for check-ups and whatnot they asked (hopefully) if he would be staying for awhile and appeared disappointed when we would inform them he was just visiting. We named Henry after our vet.
