   Leave a treat for Jake

Nicknames:
Jabba-the-Jake, Jakemaster, Jakejake, Prince Kitty-Kitty, Rat Bastard

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed

Likes:
Being fed on command, being let in/out on command, being left alone on command, and just about anything else as long as it's "on command."

Pet-Peeves:
Being immediately grabbed by the head by his dog brother, Cowboy, upon entering the house. Being dressed in a tutu and made to dance like a ballerina.

Favorite Toy:
Dangly dangly string. Piles of leaves. Also, on occasion, the dog's tail.

Favorite Nap Spot:
On the front stoop (like a furrly little gargoyle).

Favorite Food:
Anything from a can. Simply *hearing* the can opener drives himto waves of unbridled ecstasy.

Skills:
He has the dulcet vocal tones of a squalling infant, and maintains the destroyed state of all screen doors.

Dwells:
indoors and outdoors

Arrival Story:
Boy, was I furious. My fiance was running an hour late, and I was sternly turned away from her when she came into the apartment. Then I felt a warm tiny wriggly thing on my shoulder and my heart melted. A newborn kitten is better than flowers anyday, and a darn good reason for running late.

Bio:
Jake had anger management issues while living in a high-rise apartment building. We knew, from the bladders-full of pee he left in the rugby bag, that he must really want to go outside. When we finally moved to a house with a yard, we let him give it a try. After adjusting for a few weeks, he became King-of-All-He-Surveyed. Recently, a collar-less cat identical to Jake has been battling him for his territory. I call this cat the Anti-Jake, and am certain that he wants to steal Jake's collar and assume his cozy and powerful identity. In the last week or so, however, the Anti-Jake has not been around. Jabba-the-Jake wins again! ----ADDITION---- At 12:30 am on 11/1/04, Jake passed away in his mum's arms on the way to the emergency vet. His sudden death was attributed to hypotheses of stroke, heart attack, or heart worms. That morning, he had been seen playing with bugs on the side of the house. He passed away with both of his mommies kissing him and whispering words of love. Jake is survived by his brother, a rat terrier named Cowboy, who refused food or toys for the 48 hours following our return without Jake. Cowboy is, weeks later, still showing signs of grief... he still looks for Jake when we open the doors. Still watches the grass off the side porch. It was an incredibly sad and difficult time for us all.
