Washington State Convention, 1984April 11th 2008 12:37 pm[ Leave A Comment ] I've been asked to talk about Mommy's experience at the Washington State Convention in 1984. I was just a year old at the time. Mommy and her daddy were both elected delegates for Gary Hart. Her precinct caucus was so small it was held at someone's house. The state convention only took up a room as large as a high school gymnasium. There was a lot of excitement on the convention floor as the delegates voted on the state platform. The most memorable thing for Mommy was a dinner at which the guest speaker was her congressman, Norm Dicks. Norm was late for the dinner because his plane was late, and the person who introduced him, Montana Rep. Pat Williams, joked that he had rushed from the airport to get there and that's why he's called "Stormin' Norman Dicks" MOL!
