I'm home from the vet

Happy to say I am home from the vet after my two day stay. As most of you know I had my infected toe removed and fluids for dehydration. Mum didn't realise that I was dehydrated until she took me to the vet on Wednesday. After the fluids I feel a lot better.

I didn't like being caged up for two days but most of yesterday I was too bombed out on pain meds after the surgery to care much. Everyone at the vets were so nice to me and I was good to them.

One of the first things I did after go home and ate a full can of fancy feast was give mum a long cuddle with lots of purrs. I wanted to let her know that there's no hard feelings. I love her and know she only does what's in my best interests at heart.

My foot still hurts a bit but it's getting better. Now that this toe is gone the vet is confident that the infection won't come back. If it does mum has the toe they removed in a cupboard somewhere. So they can test it. Have to say I'll be happy if I never see it again.

Here is a cat fact we learnt at the vet the other day. cats are born with three legs and a spare. I didn't know that. I'm happy to get rid of this toe but I don't want to try the three leg theory out any time soon.

I want to thank everyone that purred for me, sent rosettes and made comments on my diary. They mean a lot to mum and me that there are so many kitties out in catsterland that care about me.

Every message was read and really appreciated.

I hope this diary find my mates and their families happy and healthy and I send my purrs to those doing it tough.

Purrs and lots of hugs your Aussie mate

I want to thank everyone that has taken the time to comment on Ka - zar's diary entries and taken the time to send a rosette. Every message has been read and is really appreciated. I am overwhelmed by the support of everyone and the love for Ka - zar.

I need you all to purr for me

I asked mum to write this for me because I'm spending the night at the vets. Mum took me back to the vets this morning since I bleed a lot the night before. I let them take a urine sample and the markers on my blood test were dehydration more than likely caused by the infection in my toe.

This is the second time it has happen and the vet said it likely to keep happening so mum decided to let them amputate my toe tomorrow. I had to stay and the vet to be re hydrated and then they'll do the operation tomorrow. The vet said it is minor surgery where they will just cut off the infected toe and sew the skin back together. It should take no longer than 30 minutes.

Could you please purr for me that all goes well. I can't wait to get home and be with family.

Purrs and mancat hugs

An update on me

My vet called today to tell us what the blood work had in it. I don't have hypo thyroid or Diabetes but there is a chance I may have early stages of kidney disease. Mum has to go and get some stuff from the vet tomorrow so she can get urine sample from me.

The doc said my levels are only slightly elevated but it enough to warrant further investigation. At this stage everything is highly manageable since it's been caught early. Mum is very happy about this since she already lost two cats to kidney disease and she doesn't want me to be the third.

Mum wants to treat whatever is wrong and then start fattening me up again. Sounds like a great plan to me. I love to eat.

I want to thank all my mates that purred for me I know it made for a better outcome and all your purrs were appreciated.

I hate to ask my mates for purrs again but I just come home from the vet. My general health is good but I've lost 400 grams in the last 12 months since my last wellness exam.

The vet took blood to try and work out why and we'll know the results Thursday or Friday. Can you please purr that the results are good.

An update on Grandpa

As most of you know Grandpa had his first chemo treatment on Monday and I thought I would give you a quick update.

So far the side effects have been minimal and very few. Grandpa is feeling pretty good and is getting out and about. We don't know how long this may last but as a nurse told Grandma and Mum different people are effected differently by chemo and take each day as it comes.

So that's what we've decided to do. It is good advice and I know all of the purrs from mates has had a paw in that. I also want to thank you all for your comments and support. It has meant a lot to me and my family.

I hope my mates and their families are happy and healthy and I send my purrs to those doing it tough.

As most of you may know about a week ago we found out that Grandpa needs 6 months of chemo.

This will happen once every two weeks which is 12 treatment cycles as the doctor called them. He starts chemo tomorrow and I was wondering if my mates could join me purring for him.

I am a great believer in the power of the purr it has helped my family before.

Grandpa is going to need chemo for the next three to six months. The three nodes they found were not in his bowel they have not spread. He going to go and have his treatment every two weeks for 3 and half hours.

Can you please keep him in your purrs and prayers that this leads to a full recovery.

Grandpa's coming home tomorrow

Happy to say Grandma and mum went in to visit Grandpa today and were told he's coming home tomorrow morning. It cam straight from the doctor's mouth. He has a follow up appointment next Wednesday and hopefully we'll get the biopsy results.

The fluid on the bowel joint is going down, Grandpa's bowels are working normally and his lungs are lot better than they've been for a while. They are going to send him home with some anti biotics.

This is far from the end of Grandpa's recovery but we're all happy to have him home. He was a bit grumpy this afternoon but he didn't get his papers until 2:30pm and Grandpa loves to read his papers first thing in the morning.

I want to thank all my mates and their families for their support and purrs. It has really touched me how much support there has been for my Grandpa. Can you please keep the purrs coming for a full recovery.

I hope this finds all my mates and their families happy and healthy and I send my purrs to those doing it tough.

Purrs and hugs your Aussie mate.

Just thought I would write another Grandpa update in diary since it been a few days.

Grandpa is doing really well. He is off the oxygen, The fluid around the joint of his bowel is going down and his bowels are starting to return to normal. He starting to eat solid food again which is making him happy.

We still don't know when he'll be coming home. But he is now heading the right direction. I want to thank all my mates and their mums for their support through this. I say and their mums since mum has been getting a lot of emails and facebook comments and we appreciated all of well wishes.

I hope this finds my mates and their families happy and healthy and I send my purrs to those doing it tough.
