Arrival Story:
I had been wanting to adopt a cat for quite some time, and the day I mentioned this to a coworker -- citing a fondness for Maine Coons -- she connected me with a woman in Jamaica Plain who does some rescue work. She'd been feeding this Maine Coon in her back yard for a few weeks, but couldn't adopt him because she already had three cats. He was scrawny, filthy, and very, very nervous, but chased a twig I dragged through the grass. Happily, he got a clean bill of health from the vet and very gradually became acclimated to my home -- as well as regular meals and lots of affection.
