Arrival Story: In April 07, Emilio showed up at a dilapidated house across the road from where I work. He was very shy, I managed to trap him, and have him fixed. I tried to have him with my rescue cats, but he went right back across the busy road.

Bio: Every morning when I drove to work, I was so worried, to find Emilio as road kill. But he was careful, I guess. I gained his trust, and a couple of months later he wanted love and pets more than food. We had to have headbutting and earscratching sessions before he would touch his breakfast.
I had planned to put him in the new cat enclosure which will be finished by August 07, I hope ( I'm writing this on 7/10 ). Last Sunday I noticed that Emilio was completely spooked and would not come near me. There was debris ( empty cigarette pack and stuff ) lying around the cardboard I had put out so he didn't have to lie on the blackberry brambles. He then started eating after a fe minutes, very carefully just licking his food. I noticed that his canine and maybe even more teeth were missing. I only can assume that he had been mistreated, maybe kicked by a human. I was so furious!!! Later I went back and, with patience and tuna, I was able to get close, so I grabbed him and carried him across the street. He was a good boy, though he could have shredded my bare arms. For now, he is living in our 8' x 2' kitty cage, because I cannot risk that he'll go over there again. It's only for 2 or 3 weeks, until our 2,000 sqft cat enclosure is finished. He seems to be just fine in the cage. I think he feels quite safe, and he purrs a lot when I pet him. Does not even want to get out.
11/07: Emilio has settled in wonderfully, and he has a companion kitty in the enclosure now. Her name is "The Mary". She is quite feral, but Emilio and her get along nicely. He has gotten a little rounder and always loves to throw himself on his back when we sees me so I can scratch him under the chin.
3-22-08: I am still in shock: This morning I found Emilio straining and crying and not looking well at all. I whisked him to the vet: He has a very severe heart murmur, plus a completely impacted megacolon. As he is so young, they suspect a birth damage, or maybe he had a broken pelvis at some time. At any rate, the outlook is not good. If he cannot poop all of it until Monday morning, we will have to send him to the rainbow bridge. He is not a candidate for surgery, because of the heart and the nerve damage that causes the megacolon.
we need purrs badly! Emilio was sent to the rainbow bridge on Monday morning at 8 am, 3-24-2008. He was only a year and a half old.
