I think that everyone has a baby (furry or otherwise) that you feel very protective over. You are my special guy, Cal.
I want to protect you, keep you healthy, happy and strong. Some days are easier than others. My heart aches when your sibs are chasing bugs or laser lights. I know you can't see well and some days you don't feel so great either.
I worry that you may not be with us as long as Carmen and Dexter - that scares the dickens out of me. You, though, tend to understand me. You, Beanie, are the one who is right next to me when I'm watching tv. You're the guy who nuzzled my hand when I was laying on the cold tile floor in the bathroom - sick with the flu. You are right there for me after a bad day at work -- remember, there I was sitting on the basement stairs crying -- really for no good reason. You understood that, sometimes, you just need a good cry. You're so patient and gentle. Always taking your medications for me. Being good for your visits with Dr. Louie& Dr. Amie. You're so good -
there's no other way to describe you. Just a good guy.

Wow! A daily diary pick after only one whirl at writing! And I've got news today, how cool!
Mom took me to the doctor today and, of course, I was very well behaved. My eyes were checked - the pressures are 13 (both eyes!) - and I will keep getting one drop a day of the meds. Great news for me! I had to get vaccines too and did I mention how well behaved I was? Mom says I've really come out of my shell the past few weeks. I even came upstairs to hang with one of Dad's buddies (Heck, most of mom & dad's friends didn't know they had a handsome gray kitty because I always hid). I'm a new man! I just wanna dance around singin' "I feel good" but isn't that a little ditty related to a commercial about humans' regularity? Anyway, no one is standing in my way and last night I began my reign of dominance. Mom and Zeus were laying on the bed watching ER last night and I snuck up and mounted Zeus just like a tiger in the wild. He wasn't too happy with me biting him on the back of the neck but that's what I had to do. Dad thought I was crazy and was asking mom why I was getting it on with the dog. Hey ding-dong...I wasn't getting it on with the dog...I was establishing my place in home's hierarchy. Not only did I do it once but I did it again! The only one left to conquer is the big D -- I'll have to put on a couple pounds before that day comes but it will be soon. Watch you back Dexter. You won't be king for long. Oh, you may be handsome and orange but I'm nice and I've got mom and her co-workers in the palm of my hand. Your reign will end soon....

Diary virgin no more....

Hello diary....wow, this is new to me. Usually Dex is hogging the computer but that's not the case since it's the wee hours of the night and he is fast asleep. So, I figured that I'd celebrate the fact that it's been a full year since my glaucoma diagnosis and I am doing GREAT!!! Mom and Dad have been so happy with the changes I've made. I made a decision to be a little more adventurous and I'm having fun. Yeah, the daily eye drops kinda stink but I'm glad Mom has hung in there with me (sorry about some of those scratches - don't take it personally) because they've made a difference. I really like my sibs...even Zeus. He's so goofy - a little stinky and noisy - but cool none-the-less! I still can't see very well but that hasn't stopped me from wrestling with Carmen and Dexter. And, I'm the fastest cat in the house! Of course, there's no competition there -- Big D is too fat to run fast and Carmen's a little gimpy. Life is good!
