While walking my dog, Koorazh, I came across Calliope and her six kittens in a wooded park. They had been abandoned so recently that they didn't even have fleas. I took them home to live in my tiny basement bathroom until I could get them to the local shelter, but the local shelter's air conditioning had broken down; the county would almost certainly have ended up putting them down. So it's two weeks later, and all seven of them are still in my basement bathroom. It's not ideal by far, but better than dead, and better than a small cage.

About her:
Calliope is about one year old, very calm, vocal and affectionate. She is named for the muse of epic poetry, and her name in Greek means "beautiful voiced"! She likes to stare at you very hard, walk right up your chest, look you eyeball to eyeball, and then rub her nose against your cheekbone. She is currently begin tormented by her six male kittens, who pounce and bite her tail endlessly. She gives a plaintive meow. Calliope needs a forever home! I seem to be having problems with the date feature, but Calliope will be available after June 24, 2007 (when kittens are seven to eight weeks old).
