Arrival Story: I was looking at the cat ads in the local newspaper and ran across one for Persian cats and kittens. There were many different colors listed in the ad. I thought it must be a real kitty mill. Among the cats listed in the ad was an odd eyed Calico Persian. This intrigued me, so I called on the ad. The lady was in Loveland, Colorado. She told me that a breeder in Texas was retiring and she had purchased the entire cattery. It sounded like she had a jewel box of Persian cats. She said that her husband had become attached to the little odd eyed Calico and they had decided not to sell her. I asked her to please take my number and call me if they changed their minds because I would like to have her. It was less than a week when she called and said they had decided to sell Calypso. I made arrangements to pick her up. My friend Linda and I drove to Loveland. When I had talked to the lady on the phone, she sounded quite sophisticated and well informed about cats. However, the moment I met her, I smelled a rat. The house they lived in, the way she dressed, etc told me immediately that this woman did not have the money to purchase an entire Texas cattery. Among the cats that she had gotten from Texas was Van Gogh, a chocolate and white van who was to become my little kitty soulmate. I purchased Calypso and she gave me Van Gogh. I didn't ask any questions. I paid her and took the cats and got the hell outa there. I later found out that she was really bad news. She had never finished paying the breeder in Texas and most of the cats ended up dying in her care. When she moved from her rented house in Loveland, the filth that was left behind was incredible. The poor owner of the house had to have exterminators back several times to get rid of the fleas before they could even get contractors to fix the place up. Fleas are extremely uncommon on pet animals in Colorado. I was so glad that I had found her early in the game and was able to get Van Gogh and Calypso out of her clutches. They both had some ringworm when I brought them home and Van Gogh had horrible sinusitis. He was sneezing green boogers and blood.

Bio: Calypso was born on October 24, 1997 in Texas. She was about 10 months old when she came to live with us. She was a happy, perky little cat who literally pranced and danced everywhere she went. She was well named. She was a joy to have around and she left this world much too young.
