I Was a Naughty Boy!!

Overnight this past Friday I somehow got a hold of a plastic shopping bag and chewed on it.

Meowm found it in the morning and was not happy at all. She put it kind of back together and no pieces look like they are missing, but kind of hard to tell.

Meowm watched over me like a hawk all weekend. I have been using mai litter box just fine. Not sure how long trouble takes to show up.

So now Meowm wants to eliminate all the plastic shopping bags at home. We have some cloth ones and there are the "green" ones from the store to use too.

We have used the plastic ones for our waste.

So we have a question: before there was plastic bags, what did hoomans use fur our waste??

We have heard from someone they use bread bags, going to keep that in mind ~ can't use the flushable kind, we have a septic tank as we live in the country.

Any ideas or suggestions would be good.

I was having soo musch fun and then saw how scared Meowm is!!! So that is a no no fur me and I love to chew on them bags, so they have to leave and be replaced wif something safer.

I use sandwich bags we buy cheap, with the sealable closure. Some take the think plastic bags from the produce section of a store to use. We put them in a container with a lid and then put them in the trash once or twice a week.

Yeah, we used to use the produce clear bags too. Boy, it's hard to remember BEFORE plastic bags.....you mean they haven't been here forever???? MOL Glad yer okay, Friday. Don't scare da Mama Cat too much!!!

My sympathies! I'm a major plastic chewer. There was even a group on Catster called Plastic Lickers Anonymous - its not active but if you can find it, it has some great entries.

Meowmie makes sure to hide all the pastic she can. She started using a Litter Genie which has plastic bag-like cartridges but its easier to store than all the plastice shopping bags. I think more cats did their businesso outside BP ("before plastic") so it wasn't as big an issue.

I'm scared of plastic bags and won't go near then. Mommy hides them in a placewhere I can't get to them just in case. I hope you didn't swallow any. Maybe Meowmie should call the vet and see how long it would take to pass?

My mom remembers before plastic bags. People used big paper bags--they saved them from the supermarket--fur trash, and they smelled and leaked. Not a good solution at all!

Thank you all for responding!! There has to be some sort of a solution, MOL!! Meowm is going to make a holder out of material and elastic to hold some plastic ~ saving bread bags too and we also have some Glad small kitchen garbage bags kept under the sink ~ I found this bag in the closet of the sewing room and now Meowm is going thru it all to take anything unsafe away from my reach.

Meowm actually talked with the vet this morning because I was sick last night, had bad diaherra and was vomitting all over the place ~ we're hoping and thinking its the milk I drank, I helped myself to the milk in Meowm's glass, MOL!! that is a first for me!! The vet said to keep an eye on me today and see how I am, if everything looks normal and I am myself, we should be in the clear

I am a plastic bag chewer too, so mom watches me like a hawk when she has a plastic bag out for trash or whatever cuz I sneak up and try to chew it. Mom uses Litter Locker for our litter box leavings. She says it works really well, the plastic is inside the "locker" and it keeps the smell locked away & she ties off the end of the used part every week & dumps it in the trash. The refills are kind of pricey if you buy them in the store, but she orders them in bulk from www.valuepetsupplies.com & they are way cheaper. The "locker" itself isn't expensive either. We sure hope you didn't get any of that plastic down into your tummy!

I hope you're doing well, Friday! I love milk too, but it gives me a bad tummy:( We have to keep our extra plastic bags hidden safe away in a drawer - some kitties get their heads caught in the handles, some lick and chew on them, I actually love peeing on them - yikes! Wishing you well!!

We also use the litter genie, the continuing plastic is inside a container....Mom has also used paper bags and paper lunch bags, we just play in the plastic bags, but Mom uses the cloth bags most of the time, she hates the plastic bags!!!!
