Ummm...I'm a DDP today. Thank you Catster! To my friends that sent me e-mails: You're awesome. We thank you and we lubs ya.
What's new around here? Not much. Same old same old. We did have a bat flyin' around in here a couple of nights ago. We all just sorta sat here lookin' goofy. We don't know anything about bats. There was a time, back in the day, when there was an issue with bats at the other house. However,Alex was always the bat catcher. She'd catch them and hold them down while Mom got the dust pan and the bucket to scoop 'em up and take 'em out and let 'em go. ( No. We do not kill other creatures around here...unless you're like a biting spider or a tick..or something of that nature. Arachnids and certain insects aren't tolerated.) So Mom put on her heavy duty leather gloves and grabbed the broom. Somehow she got the bat to hang onto the broom. Then she gently pulls it off of the broom, tells it that everything is ok...it's safe, and took it outside and turned it loose. Hopefully, the little bat won't go next door and go into that house. The woman that lives there beat a bat to death with a hammer a few weeks ago. Yikes! Mom was pretty disgusted with her and told her how to handle a bat in the future.
So...yeah...that's the extent of the excitement around here. I'm off to get in a good nap before suppertime comes. Catch ya on the flip side...

I've never seen a bat other than my blue toy one...are they scary? Mom says she likes bats and was the designated "bat-remover" at a theatre she worked at. Hopefully your neighbor is just ignorant and not a bad person. What a horrible fate for that poor little bat. Bats are so good for our world and hopefully your mom educated her and she will think of a better solution if she finds a bat again!
@Calísta Nope not scary. It was just an innocent lil brown bat that crawled in where it shouldn't have. No matter how careful ya are about keeping cracks sealed up,almost all old houses/buildings will have bats come to visit or live from time to time.Mom told neighbor lady that next time she should put her barking dog in the bathroom or bedroom, turn off inside lights, turn ON her porch lights and open the doors wide open. The bat will almost always fly right back outside toward the light. Problem solved. Or she should call my Mom and my Mom will come catch the bat. There is no reason for the poor lil thing to die by any means.
