My Diary
My Tail of Devotion for ElvisOctober 8th 2006 11:14 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
![]() When I brought him home, he beat up my other 2 cats. He scratched and bit us. He would purr and sit on my lap, and then scratch me, hard. He bit my husband a couple of times. He wanted me to get rid of Elvis after 3 days. I felt that Elvis would have adjustment issues no matter where he went, and may not be considered adoptable. Elvis was really mean to Bonnie. I also had a 16 year old cat who was very ill with cancer. For almost 2 years, I had to separate Elvis from Bonnie and Riley. Riley passed the year I got Elvis. Bonnie was scared to death of him. I gave them "turns" in the living area and sleeping with us. Every other day, one cat would be in the bedroom and the other in the living area. Whoever was shut up in the bedroom all day would sleep with us that night. Poor Bonnie started spraying the walls when it was her turn to be in the bedroom. I ended up putting her on Buspirone for awhile. I thought that they would never be able to be in the same room together. Elvis is still kind of mean to the other cats. He chases the dog. He ended up having kidney problems, which has slowed him down a bit. The dog won't even look at Elvis when he walks by. I adopted Tonka from the humane society last year. Elvis had to show him who was boss right away by scratching his eye. The dog recovered fine, but he figured out right away who was in charge around here. Elvis is a daddy's boy. He loves his dad and likes to sit next to him on the sofa every evening. He also wakes his dad up for breakfast every day. Elvis is my husband's favorite cat. Elvis loves my sons, too. He "talks" to my youngest son every day when he gets home from school. He is more vocal than my other kitties, and a bit more demanding as well. I can not imagine my home without him.
