Can You Help Cookie In My Honor?

My furriends,
It is two years today since that speeding car took me away from my family. Sometimes it seems like a lifetime ago and sometimes it seems like only yesterday. My pawrents still miss me a lot, but I'm not lonely here at the Bridge because I now have my brothers Tyler and Pooh with me. The Three Muskateers, together again!

Now I would like to ask you all a favor. Just by coincidence, my mum was thinking about me today when she heard a story about a little cat named Cookie. It seems that Cookie is a neighborhood stray, a very sweet cat, who got into some kind of trouble. Maybe she was hit by a car too... Whatever it was, she has two broken femurs and a smashed pelvis and desperately needs help. She survived for two weeks by herself, and now is in the care of a rescuer. But the rescuer and vet need to raise money for her medical care. As you can imagine, Cookie will need extensive surgery and after care.

Can you help Cookie? My mum donated in my memory, and perhaps you have a dollar or two to spare too. I know my mum would be very grateful, and if you ever had a much-loved kitty who met the same misfortune, this is a wonderful way to remember them. They are already halfway to their goal! Please help them reach their target.

If you think you can help, please go to http://melissasrescues.chipin.com/tough-cookie-greenville

Thank you all!
Many purrs and rainbow love,

Together Again

I knew Tyler would be with me again soon, but I didn't know it would be SO soon...

I am the happiest of angels now that I am once again with my beloved brother, but I am sad for my family. This has been a terrible year of losses for them. I am trying to watch over them, and promise to take Tyler under my wing until he finds his own angel powers.

For now, we are both hanging close to our pawrents until we can be sure they will be ok. Then it will be time to fly, fly, fly...

Together again for all time.
Love,
Missy

Tyler

My mum came out to my garden to have a quiet talk to me today. She told me how much Tyler misses me, how much it has affected his physical well-being.

I know this to be true.

She switched on my pretty garden spinner to make rainbow arcs over my garden, and thought quietly for a while. She asked me to come visit Tyler in his dreams, like I do her sometimes, to help Tyler understand that I am at peace, to not remember how I died but how we lived happily together; to let him know he can heal and that I will always be in his heart.

We will be together again one day my truest friend.
BUT NOT YET!

Love forever,

My First Birthday at the Bridge

Today would have been my 16th birthday on Earth!
Like I've said before, for a kitty who has had many adventures, that's quite a feat...

Although my mum would dearly love to have celebrated with me as an earth kitty with all the usual treats and hugs and kisses, she has to content herself with memories of how I used to be.

I watched her water my garden today, and smile through the tears as she remembered me. This morning I watched my dad stoke my purple trankie blankie where I used to lay (next to him) and wish aloud that I was still there...

These things are normal for humans, I have learned. But my mum also knows that it was me who paid her a special visit the other day, me who meowed my special meow so she would turn around, and glimpse me out of the corner of her eye, sitting upon the bed in my usual place. I made sure to vanish when she looked again, mol.

So you see, being an angel has its advantages! Today at the Bridge I spent my earth-birthday chasing clouds and other angels, and zooming down to watch my family.

Thank you all for not forgetting me.It has touched my mum's heart deeply to know how much you all care, and to read the lovely messages and rosies I have received today.

I am still here mum, dad, special friends... I will never be far away from your hearts.
Love,
Missy angel

Today is the first day of my tenth life

It's a long, long time since I made a diary entry, but I feel today - the first day of my tenth life - is a good one to say a few things.

First of all, last night I flew very fast to the Rainbow Bridge. No one knew I was about to go, least of all me. I rarely if ever went near the road (which is relatively quiet) but for some reason last night I did. I didn't see the car and the driver didn't see me. Nuff said. It was very quick, and before I knew it, I was up above my house looking down on my family. What a great view!!! I always liked high vantage points, so this is very cool. From here I can see everything and watch over everyone, feline and human.

My mum and dad are devastated and weren't ready for me to leave, I know, but I want them to remember me the way I was. And for this reason (and in case some of you reading this didn't know me very well) I have decided to "tag" myself so everyone can be reminded of what a great girl I was.

Here are numerous things (charming and not-so-charming!) about me - Missy, the Caribbean Princess:

1) I was almost 16 years of age! When you've had as many adventures as I had, that's quite a feat. My vet was quite shocked when mum reminded him of my age during my last check-up
2) I was born on a beach in the Cayman Islands, and moved countries twice (yes, I have air miles)
3) I was a Diva! I particularly enjoyed hissing at all the other cats from my favorite spot on dad's sofa as they went by. I particularly loved to torment Caney
4) Tyler was my brother and best friend (still is, nothing will ever change that). He was the only one that didn't get a hiss. In fact, I hung my whole world on him
5) Wherever Tyler chose to sleep, that's where you would find me - usually on top of him. He was a great bodywarmer!
6) Being a Diva, I decreed that Tyler had to wash me morning, noon and night. And being the sweetheart that he is, of course he obliged
7) I loved the new landscaping in my back yard (yes mine). Tyler and I would lie for hours on a chair by the babbling water feature, listening to the soothing sounds. Very fitting for a Princess
8) I was VERY pretty! People would stop and say "what a beautiful cat!" I was a real chocolate-box girl and that's how I want to be remembered
9) I loved Petrie. He was the one who sent me my beautiful purple trankie blankie which I loved very much
10) I used to sleep on my mum and dad's bed every night, without fail. Just lately I had started to sleep on my mum's pillow above her head, and I would gently knead her scalp and purr in her ear until she went to sleep. I would almost always still be on the bed to greet mum when she woke up
11) Mum and dad thought they might lose me a year or so ago. I caught Tyler's "mystery illness" and seemed to be fading very fast. One visit to the vet and I changed my mind!
12) I could sing! In fact I was quite operatic, whether it was the Italian National Anthem, the Vonage song or any other tune my dad chose to whistle, I would always sing along at the top of my voice! Mum has it on video, and although it's very dark, maybe she will post it again for old time's sake
13) I lurved to be brushed. When the brush or zoom groom came out, I would go into a frenzy, rolling all over the place. Once you started, you were not allowed to stop until I said so
14) My favorite group is Olde Furts. Although Tyler is almost always the family spokescat, I was always there looking over his shoulder. Who knows, maybe now I will join a rainbow group so I can talk to some of my old freinds who are already angels
15) I was a very finicky eater. Sometimes I liked the blue Fancy Feast can, sometimes the green, sometimes none. I kept mum on her toes every day! However I lurved the fatty pieces in the chicken that my doggie brother Pooh has for dinner, and I always, always got a little of it at cocktail time as my special treat.
16) I was always polite at meal times. I would sit on the counter and wait my turn. Perhaps I was deciding whether or not to approve of that day's menu selection (who knows, I'm never going to tell!)
17) I often mistook Clyde for Tyler. If Clyde was sleeping, I would jump up and cuddle in, not realizing my mistake until it was too late. As soon as I realized it was not my beloved Tyler, I would give a big old hiss and maybe a swat before jumping down. Poor Clyde... he was always so bewildered about that
18) It took 18 months before I decided to accept my dad... he worked so hard to win me over, but true to my Princess demeanour, I resisted him as long as I possibly could. Finally, one day, I decided enough was enough, and jumped onto his lap as if it was no big deal. From that day on, I was a daddy's girl through and through. My dad will miss me terribly and today is a very sad day for him
19) For a while I went through a phase of peeing on the bath mat. That shag pile was so gooooood! The new one just wasn't the same to me and I reverted back to my litter box. It was just a fad!
20) I used to like to lay in the planter in front of my front door. Unfortunately the plants didn't like it much, but I really thought it was made for me. After all, it's round, cat sized, and has a great vantage point. Who knew?

Of course there is much, much more to me than these 20 facts, but this will suffice for now. It's been very hard for mum to write this so soon, but therapeutic too. It's good to remember things the way they were before the hurt started. Please purr and pray for them. I am the first fur-kid they have lost together as a family, and mum is heartbroken to lose her girl who has been such a huge part of her life for so long.

My earthly remains are now buried in a good sunny spot in the garden, and soon a lovely flower will grow there in my memory. It won't be long until I am testing my new wings and visiting everyone to say thank you for all the lovely messages of condolence and gifts. What my family would do without you all, I just don't know. Until then my friends, adieu from this little Princess.

Love,
Missy

Little Ole Me Again?

I can't quite believe my eyes... I've been picked again! Or perhaps I'm still a little worse for wear after the great big Olde Furts' birthday pawty, and I'm hallucinating...

Nope, it's real, and my lovely friend Wally and his family made me a badge to prove it!

It's a wonderful thing to bask in the limelight, especially when one is a an Olde Furt like me (but then again I don't look a day over 7, and I can still vault the garden gate as well as the youngsters). But you know, it's also an opprtunity to do nice things for other cats, so for anycat reading this, I hope you don't mind me climbing up on my soap box and asking you to:

1) Purr for the family of our dear friend Jesse James who just crossed the Bridge
2) Purr for the errant Mr D to come HOME already!
3) Purr for Isaac, who is bravely battling his sickness
4) Visit the forum thread for sick kitties, administrated by our lovely Hazel Lucy, and leave a little purr for evey other cat and family who needs them.

Thanks dear friends!
*Climbs down off soap box and sauters to the couch for a well-earned nap*

OMC, I can't believe what I'm seeing - little old me is a diary pick!
It's not often I get a word in edgewise living with Mr. Boombastic... as you all know Tyler is the wordy one. But now I can hold my head high because I, too, have been CHOSEN.

Thank goodness I'm wearing the purrfect outfit to be out in public.

Thank you Catster, this is indeed a great honor! And all in the same reigning week as the fabulous glamor puss Isaac, our great friend. Please remember to purr for him everybody, no cat deserves it more.

Off now to bask in my limelight (and to brag to Tyler). Thanks again Catster!
Love,
Missy

Oh my!
I have been showered with gifts by my Valentine (my adorable Petrie ) as only befits a true Princess. *Happy sigh!* It's a sure sign someone loves you when they send you not just roses, but chocolates, a pearl necklace AND a truly fabulous pink lace dress. I am the luckiest Princess in the whole world!

Thank you Petrie, I adore you...

Now, as you can see, I have decided to debut my beautiful dress in honor of our fabulous friend Isaac, who needs purrs right now. Dearest Isaac is very sick and it is our job to comfort him and his family. I KNOW FOR SURE he will approve of my fashion choice!

Look out for my fashion shot in Isaac's stroll.
Yours from the Princess's bower,
Missy

Today is my Birthday!

Today I am turning 14 years of age. I know, it's a stately age for a kitty cat, and I must say I've had a pretty good life, being born a Princess and all that.

I couldn't ask for more - I have the bestest friend a girl could ever have (Tyler), a wonderful boyfriend (Petrie) who sends me roses and baskets and all sorts of marvelous things, and I have a wonderful family who take care of me. Just a few weeks ago they bought me a new sofa. Ever since it arrived, I have graced it's fabric surface all hours of the day, moving only to eat and do those other necessary things. And just this past weekend they bought me not one, but two new lounge chairs, and placed them in the purrfect spot in the garden for maximum lounging. What more could a girl possibly ask for?

*SIGH*.... happy days befitting a Princess!
