Oh My Stars!
Who knew that today would be any different than any other day? Not me, that's for sure!
One of my favorite napping spots is in the back of my Darling Daddy's pickup that is parked in our carport.
Almost every morning when my Daddy gets ready to leave for work he looks for me in the bed of his pickup. Then he does one of two things: He honks his horn at Mom, she comes outside, picks me up from my nap spot and carries me into the house. Or, Daddy picks me up and carries me into the house. Being his special girl, he always demands that Mom feed me at once!
This morning he honked his horn, Mom came outside, looked into the back of his pickup and didn't see me, so she gave him the all clear signal and off he drove.
Eeeegads! The last time I looked, this nap-spot on wheels was parked safely at my house. However, it is now moving.....farther & farther away from my house. I sit up and scream at my Daddy to let him know, "hey Daddy I'm here, please stop", but for some reason he doesn't. On & on this mobile bed travels, will it ever stop? I'm beginning to be very ascared. Fifteen windy miles later, Daddy arrives at work, parks the pickup and promptly disappears before I can let him know that he has an unscheduled passenger. I have no idea where I am or where my Daddy is. Just to be on the safe side I decide to stay hidden in the small area between the side of Daddy's toolbox and the side of his pickup bed. As I was scrunched into my nook, trying to plan my next move, a strange kitty that I've never seen jumps up on the side of the pickup. Who is she? What does she want? Am I going to have to kick her furry butt? I wait......ready to defend my Daddy's pickup if I have to. I sigh in relief when she jumps down and leaves me to the task of solving this travel dilemma . Just as I am beginning to think that my Daddy is lost too, he returns. Now he will reach in and pick me up. Soon I'll be enjoying chin scratches and profuse apologies for having been catnapped. I purr with anticipation, my eyes closed, picturing the attention my Daddy will lavish on me. Unfortunately my eyes pop open when I feel my nap-spot once again moving. I can see Daddy, but he can't see me. Here we go again. Fifteen windy miles later we arrive, much to my relieved delight, back home again. When Daddy gets out of the pickup I waste no time, screaming at him, "how dare you! do you know how stressful this unscheduled traveling trip has been on me?" At last, he picks me up into his arms and begins telling me he's sorry. Mommy, also, was properly contrite for her part in my misadventure. She tells Daddy that I must have had an angel watching over me and then she shudders, thinking of all the scarey pawsibilities. Because I am a Princess, these indignities and frightening experiences can only be erased from my mind with a prompt mooch reward! Daddy & I have trained Mommy well! Soon I was munching on meat & cheese mooch food, to be followed by a nap, not in Daddy's pickup, but in the house. Hmmm, I wonder, does the house have wheels too? As I cannot recall seeing any, I lay my head down for a much deserved nap!
